She seemed nice enough as first impressions go. And by first impressions, Gaia meant that she hadn't been chased away or attacked. Though this wolf was similar in size, she knew that there would be no contest should it come to that. The younger wolfess did not know how to fight. She barely even knew how to hunt as. Still it didn't look like things were going to in the wrong direction so Gaia thought she could let her guard down a bit. Following her newfound companion, she placed her front paws in the cool water and sighed deeply as it chilled her sore paws. She had been travelling a lot with very little rest. It was nice to be able to allow her feet the relaxation they needed from time to time.
As Karael spoke, Gaia turned her ears towards her to give her her full attention. Again, she copied the white canine as she also sat on her rump with her paws still in the soft sand of the lake.
"The pleasure is all mine, Karael," she said, testing the name. For a moment, nothing more was said as the pair gazed at each other briefly. The small waves from the lake drifted lazily up the bank to tickle Gaia's paws as she waited for Karael to speak again. She didn't have to wait long. The answer came easy enough.
"I was born here. Actually, see those trees over there, a little to the north of the lake? That is where I used to live." Gaia gave a small smile as she remembered how things used to be. Before... No, not there. Not now. She shook her head to rid herself of the memory before it could consume her.
"I used to live in Iromar for a time, but now I am just a loner trying to find my place. What about you? Have you been here long? You also seem to be a loner. I don't smell any packs on your fur." Perhaps she was being a bit bold but if Karael could ask questions then so could see, right?
