STARING AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR GLASS

It is unfortunate that Sahin, Midas’s unknown neighbor had been poisoning Sylvia’s mind. If Midas had known this, it would just be another reason not to trust the other creature.
The others on the island did not understand. They do not get a relationship that words don’t hav to justify. Trust lies so heavily between the pair that even in moments of silence, there is deep understanding.
Midas understands her as she stands there. He feels her concern even before she voices it. Cerulean eyes graciously worry over his battle-born body. The greater half of the year had been spent in perilous conditions, unyielding terrain, and a heart aching to reunite with his family.
The golden king is content. “What did I do to deserve you?” He touches her once more before bringing his body to a stand, the knight towers over his small family. “It’s good to be home, the east isn’t what it once ones.” Velvet lips find Sylvia’s forelock and tassel them lovingly. He breaths deeper into the air.
Amidst sun and sea there is another smell, another stallion. Midas’s eyes twitch slightly, jealously brooding like a dark potion inside his heart. Legs stiffen, body turns to a more protective stance. “Tell me love, where did you seek shelter in my absence?” The voice is colder, but still soft. He wonders silently what has become of his ridge.
His ridge
This is his beach, his sky, his mountain, his streams. He will not leave this place, not for the world. Atlantis is as much a part of Midas as Sylvia or Elliot is his family. Atlantis is his home, and that is not going to change.
