“I think you make good company.”

That he would not want an imprint brings music to my ears. It is nice to see that my new best friend is not a girly male wolf. He agrees with my ideas of imprints as being nonsense and not being important. I do not understand why the guy must be the fly in the spider web in this horrible game called imprints. It is not fair I think. Can the female not be so loyal to her imprint? Could the female not simply protect her imprint and place her own life on the line? I mean if imprints were supposed to love one another you would think the female would have to do equally as much as the male. Yet it would seem once again males are seen in a higher position than females. Though why he thinks he is not a good wolf to be in company with I am unsure about. I mean he hasn’t attacked me. He has yet to be rude. He is rather quiet, something I am not used to, but it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It is actually kind of nice. Should he ever receive an imprint I might be slightly jealous. I mean he is my best friend now and I don’t want anyone to replace me. I know it hasn’t been long enough to make a fair judgment call, but he’s the first wolf that was willing to extend his paw in friendship and how could I say no?

As I look for any signs of my Father I cannot help but feel that I am being watched. Maybe I am just being silly or a little paranoid, but I have this feeling that there are eyes digging into me. Providing my new friend a reassuring smile I cannot help but feel a little bit embarrassment by him calling me a Princess. Being royal was never important to me and I never was the kind that enjoyed learning exactly how to walk and act like a Princess. I hope when I meet his Father I do not embarrass my parents or the Angel line. I notice his hesitance about meeting my own Father and I cannot help but share the same anxiety. I try to nod my head to assure him as best as I could, my voice ringing with unfaltering certainty.

“I think so, after he is all protective. He might try to scare you I think, but if you hold your own I think he’ll like you. I mean, there is only one way to find out.”

I am a creature born with pride and self-confidence. I was bred and meant to lead others and provide protection and safety to all. My new friend is in need of such things, I should like to think. I mean I do not like him self-doubting himself, it is not right. Gently I move my paws towards his, touching it gently and keeping it in place as my tail sways side to side slowly in the snow. I inch my head forward and lick his paw in a friendly manner before lifting my golden crown proudly. A pleasant grin appears as I try to bring my friend around.

“Not really. I mean if you liked killing other wolves then I’d think you were odd. Maybe you are just lost and you don’t know what you want…there is nothing wrong with that. Maybe you are supposed to be a leader, I mean, not all leaders want to be in the first place sometimes.”

It is his next question that causes my blood to suddenly chill. I simply stare at him, bright eyes widen. I have heard of this Tobias, this true Demon. Grandfather Heyel told me all Demons are marked with red, but Tobias is as black as night. Those piercing emerald soulless eyes carried nothing but a glaze of hated and a twinkle for murder. He was like no other wolf and whenever I hear of him, I must admit I am a little bit afraid of him. He is a wolf that no one can keep away. Once he wants to attack you, you are as good as dead and it is best to say your prayer then and there. I am brave, but I am not stupid. Dexter is only a year older than me and I am not sure it is wise that he was willing to risk himself. Shaking my head with earnest I stutter softly.

“T-track him down? I-I’m not supposed to be see him, we’re supposed to stay away. Mother and Father say he is very bad…Grandfather said he has killed one of our own before and many others.”

I do not want to disappoint my friend. So I lower my head down in the snow my worry for him grows. Perhaps he is indeed of assistance. Thinking back to his kind words explaining to me that I am brave and he wished others were brave like me to take Tobias down, I cannot help, but feel a little bit proud about that. My bright eyes meet his own and I barely whisper allowing him to hear and hear alone, should any others be near, my tone holding some severity.

“Maybe when I’m done healing we can go track him…but we have to be careful Mother and Father would kill me, if Tobias doesn’t finish me off first.”

He cannot be alone if he is going to go off and meet Tobias. He needs a protector. Perhaps, that is me.
