The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The feeling had never left. Not since that night when he had seen her for the first time. It was like a pull, not painful, but just that. It tugged at her heart and always demanded that she be with him. Even after Gaia was attacked and had been moved to Iromar the pull was there. When she left, it cried and yanked harder and harder. Now it was longer just a pull but a sense of longing. Though she was still a child, she wanted to be with him. How could she be? A wolfess born to lowly parents who were loners. He, for she did not want to think his name, was royalty. The heir to a lost bloodline. He would never want to be with her. What could she offer him?

Whenever the sense of lost and loneliness consumed her her mind thought it fun to play tricks. Think of him, say his name, and feel sorry for the fact that you left him. No matter what she did, Gaia could not shake the thoughts. Then the fear came. She was going to be alone forever. Flare would find her and end her once and for all. Mom and Dad would never accept her again. The more the pale wolfess walked the deeper she sank. It wasn't until she reached the gloomy grotto that she began to realize that the thoughts in her mind were starting to be silenced. He was here! Eyes wide and ears up, her bi-colored eyes searched the caves for her dark prince. It didn't take long to find him.

She didn't have to use her nose or her eyes or ears to find him. It was like a string was tied around her heart and it pulled her towards him. Dragging her like a dog on a leash. Awkward paws moved without grace as she stumbled over the rocky terrain until she stood at the entrance of the cave with the sun shining behind her, casting her shadow across the floor. For a moment she just stared at him as he chewed on a vole. Don't say his name. Don't say his name. Don't...

"Zaqar."

The name came out like a gasp of life-saving air from a drowned victim. For now, while the two were together, everything would be okay. Everything was right. She took a few steps towards him and waited for his reaction. Whatever it would be.
