Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

She laughs. He simply smiles at her; she wasn’t what he had originally seen on the outside. Her reactions weren’t quite what he expected but then again, Ember always did like surprises. His bright eyes scan her through once again. Something was off; he didn’t know if she was pretending or if she wasn’t quite used to being around someone like himself. There could be other possibilities but Ember quickly shakes the thoughts out of his head; sure he would find out eventually, right? There was never a hurry with Ember. When it was time, surely more would show of this not-so-delicate female.

With all this talking, he had yet to notice that they didn’t know each other’s names. Aithne. He repeated her name in his head to engrave it; sometimes he would forget names which would stir up quite a mess, specially if it was a young female he had been previously flirting with. Aithne. Again, he repeats it in his head; little did he know that his name and hers could actually relate, be tied together in meanings. “Lovely.” he states before giving her a half smile, before shaking off some uncomfortable dirt which had fallen on his body. His response was short; after all, she just needed his name, right? “Ember”.

He then follows for the hunt; paying attention closely. As he sees her make her call, he quickly and silently glides through to merge with his surroundings… it was obvious he had quite a bit of experience in this. His fiery gaze darts from their targeted prey to Aithne, then back. When the creature begins to move, he merely sinks down to avoid being spotted. He spots Aithne, beginning to make her move on the beast. Ember’s shiny white teeth become visible, his snout and nose wrinkles and ears paint themselves onto his pretty little skull. When the beast spots Aithne, it tries to run. Ember’s direction. He knew better than to pounce right away and give the beast a second or two of extra thinking time. He waits… close… closer.

He jumps out, snarling and teeth bared. The beast jumps slightly from shock, but now its attention is fully on Ember. Out of the corner of his eye he hopes Aithne takes her chance to take down the beast then and there, attack it with a powerful bite, and once that occurs, his legs would spring him and razors aim for the neck, throat, or shoulder, depending on whatever angle becomes open. A burst of enjoyment runs through Ember’s body; it wasn’t that killing gave him enjoyment, simply the fact he was hunting in a team effort; as mentioned before, he was born for pack life, not to be a loner.

From whatever occurs, he jumps off the beast. He looks over to Aithne and gives her a smirk, eyes narrowed, as he licks whatever residue is left on his maw. The smell intoxicates him, but he remains calm and cool. He wasn’t one to take a first bite; especially when a lady is present. “Thinking of finding a pack?” he asks without thinking it through. In his old homeland, there were few to no loners. He wasn’t sure if that was the case or not with her; he would find out, he guessed. He shakes the excitement from his body and that snarling teeth-bared side of him was gone in an instant. He was back to his usual handsome self with his cocky stance and overly-proud expression. He was kinda hot.
