Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Just one look at the white male and I know that I am facing another like Tobias, a killer. Calliel is not with me this time to be in harm's way so I feel a wave of relief in that thought as I approach. The male notices me instantly, as does the female he's currently chewing on. The smell of blood is rich and thick in the air and I know that even without my help, the male would have her lifeless in mere moments. However, I know that this is a chance to do the research I've been wanting to do, to understand how these wolves work. I can't pass up this chance.

He warns me with his eyes and with the snarl dripping from his lips. The female has not quite lost her fight yet, snapping at him again and again but I can feel her fear washing off in waves when she sees me. She must already know her doom. In a way, I am sad about the loss of an innocent life and yet my research somehow seems more important. I lunge and grasp her scruff tightly, weighing her down even as I taste copper on my tongue. The male looks at me, first in surprise and then in approval. He doesn't waste time then dropping the tail and looking closer at the female, trusting me completely to hold her jaws still while he looks at her face. What's so interesting about her face? Does he find her attractive? I watch him with narrowed eyes the entire time, trying to read his face, his eyes, any clue as to what he may be thinking.

Suddenly he lunges at her face, looking as if he's trying to gouge her eyes out. I have a moment of regret in holding this wolf down so that she can die a slow horrible death but my grip on her skin does not falter. I know that my work is more important. A few must die to save the lives of millions. The smell of blood only heightens as he rips into the side of her eyes and I look down, wondering if I'll see them roll on out of her skull. In a way, it's...fascinating. The female takes me by surprise with her last upheaval, managing to get her jaws into his shoulder. I wait for the disappointment I'm sure he's going to show towards me now. I was supposed to be holding her. Instead he only looks at me, almost a patient look but a commanding one. He wants me to get her off of him now.

I calculate my next actions before I release her scruff, instantly attacking the ripped flesh beside her eye that the white wolf left. She lets out an agonizing scream and releases his shoulder, turning to snap at me and I dodge deftly, forcefully grabbing her scruff once more and pushing her back down. This time, I put my paw over her neck, pressing down on her larynx so that any upward movement would result in her coughing and gagging this time. She won't make that move again. My gaze moves back to the white wolf, wondering what his next move will be.
