Pro stock tires

I have been in the shop last couple of days working on my pro stock tires and I found out what Jim said about rubber getting under the skid plate slows the sled down like a brake. I was leaving some black marks about a foot long after the weight came up on the sled and the tires got hot, with all three tractors. I repeated this several times and found out that the rubber going under the sled was even slowing my tractors down. I went in the house and got some cotton balls and all of my tires failed. any ideas how I can fix this problem?
