Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Amoxtli stared around the clearing that his family generally stayed in. The den entrance, the same to which he was born in was not far off, though still within hearing distance of the brook near them. He didn’t bother to even look for his father was more sparsely in that den than any other member of the family, apparently back in Nahuatl, only females with pups really used dens, otherwise the warriors and wolves stayed outside. Supposidly it had been for protection, more wolves to easily hear and come to the call should a lower pack come to try and take the leading position. Amoxtli couldn’t picture living a life like that, but apparently it was what his father had grown up with and experienced for several years before coming to Moladion. Sure some probably thought it was weird but for Amoxtli it was really just normal to him. He knew most wolves didn’t sleep in dens but why not sleep under the stars? Be open to the world, it was nice, at least, he thought so.

He was feeling a bit more at ease here back at their den site, the surroundings and sounds so familiar to him that really conversing her he could almost forget Shiloh wasn’t family. Not that she was hard to talk to, she teased him but still she wasn’t as bad as his sister. He was still a bit nervous but she seemed genuinely curious about his family the pack, and perhaps she just wanted a friend too. It didn’t sound like she had any back in her old home of Diveen, not even with her own family, so now here perhaps he could get a friend and she could too? His brown tail gave a flick as he watched the water for a moment before his ears twitch as she replies to him about his mother being so strong.

What escapes her maw sends him into a little stuttering fit of ‘well’s and ‘I’s pausing for a moment to regain himself before saying, ”I-I dunno about… that.” being all he could managed before looking sheepishly away. His father had been teaching him and he didn’t want to prove the girl wrong by beating her, if she fought him, perhaps he would let her win just to be certain she didn’t get mad or anything. Plus she was a girl right? It was good to be nice to girls. It dawned on him then that maybe his dad did he same for his mother…. Though it didn’t really make her any less fierce in his eyes anyway. It seemed she was confident, in his own stuttering fit he hadn’t seen her own moment of shock and hesitance, he only caught her daring grin.

Still though he wanted to know if they could go to Diveen, he always wanted to explore, father said the Angels there spoke some weird language that they didn’t speak along with English. Something called Latin. He wondered if Shiloh, being a princess could speak that language too? Probably, Amoxtli heard all the real angels knew how and were taught it just like he, Zeltzin and Dexter had been taught Nahuatl from birth. But she said he could go with her, and in that Amoxtli felt relief and happy that she said she would! ”W-would you r-really?! That would be really great!” He said excitedly his tail waving about in a very puppy-ish manner feeling his heart leap happily before regaining his composure and shaking his head slightly his bright mis-matched eyes traveling away from the girl again. That was a strange feeling he felt so light and fluttery, was that was it was like making a friend? A real friend?

He stands awkwardly silent then still averting his eyes while she got her drink trying to work out that strange fluttery feeling in him when the girl suddenly exclaimed ‘look out’ snapping him out of his thoughts and only spotted the black paws just in time to do as his father had taught out of reaction more than anything. He twisted his head back his body lowering eyes filled with surprise as his body turned. Still though he wasn’t sure what had happened and as he side stepped away from the attack the boy fell into the creek side first into the water scrambling to regain his feet looking around trying to find his attacker not realizing it was the girl until he saw she was poised for attack.

”Whuh, what was that for!?” He said shocked, no anger was in his tones but still he was surprised. Perhaps he wasn’t graceful yet but at least he still held some of his parents’ skills even if he didn’t want to acknowledge it.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
