I can feel her body succumbing to my command, softening even as I brace against her. My grooming is not gentle by any means, my tongue scratching and dragging across her body instead of caressing but this is the only means of affection that I've ever known. I've seen my father be kind to my mother. I've seen him show her affection with gentle nudges and licks, nuzzling her to sleep at night and I know my mother enjoyed this attention but it doesn't come so simply to me. To me, this is loving. To me, this is as good as it gets. She smells my coat and growls, informing me that she knows I have been with another female. I curl my lip in response. "Ava teaches me to kill. She distracted me from the pain of losing you." I scold her again with my eyes. I want a promise that she'll never leave me again. More than words. I want to know that she is here to stay, that I will never go without her again. I want her to prove it to me. We press against each other as close as lovers, as siblings, as imprints. A whisper in her ear but a promise none the less. My tone is strong with determination. She licks up under my tongue, grazing my teeth and I growl, a soft soothing growl compared to others. Only she can make me feel this way. I know what she wants and I ache to give it to her and so I do. Take her scruff in my teeth, I command her body to do my bidding as I know she will and I take what is mine. Moments that feel like hours go by and when I'm finished, I lie down beside her and go back to grooming the tangles out of her coat, satisfaction glowering in my eyes that we both got the release we were looking for. Now that the tension is out of the way, I turn to her, my voice serious. "Ani, be my mate. No one can be for me what you are. Be mine and never stray from my side again." I stare intensely into her eyes, willing to get the answer I so desire before I lean close, a heavy sigh of contentment dripping from my jaws as I press close against her. "Where do you wish to go? Do you wish to stay here forever or does Diveen still call to you? I will go wherever you go." I stare into the darkness of the forest as sunrise soon approaches.
