FROM THE OCEAN SHE RISES

Jörmungandr watches the mare carefully. As previously noted, it is clear the draft has been in some sort of battle so she doubted it would try anything against two horses. Her ears perk up only slightly at the mare’s words; Impazienza, prime minister of the peak. Olaf had mentioned her aunt on a number of occasions and it is no surprise the Jörmungandr that the mare has risen to a top rank although the last Olaf had known of her, she had been sent to one of the band stallions. She wonders fleetingly had circumstance might have moved the half blind mare to the mare herd instead. She cannot dwell on these thoughts though and lets the mare finishing the sentence the mare did not know. ”And now your niece’s, I am Olaf’s daughter, Jörmungandr.” she adds in a neutral tone, still not entirely trusting despite their family link. Individuals change over time but Jörmungandr understands the need to physically be in the forest, perhaps it is a family trait.

Evidently, Lyden does not feel the same way as It is not sooner than has she finishes her sentence that Lyden begins. For a moment, distracted by their familial ties, she had forgotten about the links to Skylar. Jörmungandr has never met the mare and due to her long absence to hang out around the peak, Jörmungandr was not as attached as Lyden had been. Though it remains unspoken, she felt the Lyden was aware that Skylar would probably always end up back there one way or another. She understands his anger at losing the chance to raise his daughters though; it hurts her heart to even consider if she had been ripped away from both her parents; Olaf is a part of her world. Even Impazienza should be able to understand that, she too was always a feature at her father’s; or so Olaf told her anyway.

When Lyden finishes, he looks to her and she remains neutral. It is his call what to do next. She will maintain a united front and chase her aunt out if that is to be the way of things or she will stand and listen if that is the chosen course of action. Sighing, he seems to pick the latter option for which she is glad. She waits for Impazienza to respond to his question before she decides on which topic of conversation to follow; will she admit to another reason for being here or will she try and explain the Skylar situation. Perhaps there is common ground to be found and some way for Lyden to see his girl’s more. From the far right, keeping well away from the unknown mare, Joukahainen finally catches up to his mother. Silently, he moves to her side. His muzzle brushes lightly against her back leg as he turns his head to look at the stranger with his good eye.
