Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

 photo Guard_zpsa80faac4.jpg

He travels within the darkness from Diveen, sliding beneath the cover of the night to slip past the border guard and the assassin patrol, the young male long ago having grown out of the family den, at last having been forced to find a place all his own and yet….he missed the comfort, missed the mass of warm bodies he had grown accustomed to sleeping beside and yet the den had become cramped, near impossible to move within as each litter of children that proceeded himself continued to grow. It was inevitable perhaps, after all, neither Azrael, largest of Heyel’s children, nor Andromeda were small in stature, their children equally sizeable in turn, Guardian himself the tallest, though his litter brother, Starfall and their sire still outweighed him. Eahc long stride flows with the graceful ease of his bloodline, each red limb picking silenty upon the earth to carry his ebony form towards the border of Taviora. He misses his family this night, despite his age, despite having long ago outgrown pup-hood and yet- tonight it would seem he misses another more, eyes of beautiful molten gold and blue searching for a form as black and red as his own, the brother he alone was charged with protecting. Perhaps he had chosen to remain in Diveen, Guardian determined to seek the warriors path, to one day stand beside cousin Achilles when it was the young Prince took over and yet he has never forgotten the duties of his birth. If Starfall was the Dreamwalker- then it is his role to guard him, to watch over him- to protect him from enemies he may not see. Perhaps Guardian himself is rarely noticed by his brother and yet, often, he seeks to check upon his siblings, to watch from afar, to assure himself his brother is well before he returns to Diveen.

He had never understood, not truly, the reasons for Starfall’s departure from their birth pack, his inability perhaps, to see eye to eye with Azrael surely playing a part within this and yet for all the disdain Azrael had felt for his eldest son, it would seem he had only love and patience for the younger Guardian and to some extent perhaps, though never would he admit it, the boy had relished his Father’s praise, pleased to have their sire’s attention so often upon him. As a child he had sought only to make him proud, hoping indeed that each small milestone would assure Azrael stayed just a little longer with them. To look back upon such a thing as an adult is to perhaps see a crooked grin mark the handsome males features. He had been foolish to believe that his good behaviour had in any way afflicted his sire’s desire to stay home, understanding now that his Father’s work had simply been….important, Guardian himself having inherited a work ethic much the same, one that saw him train constantly, little time spared for other pursuits. Tonight however, he has made time, forced it upon himself, his desire to be beside his brother the dirving force that sees the red and white boy slip within the forests of Taviora, following that trail upward, white marked face turned to the sky as another scent intermingled with that of his sibling- a scent he knew well, that of cousin Shiloh.

“Brudda.”

It is a simple greeting, his words that same lazy, easy drawl he has always possessed as he moves to approach from the other side, opposite to cousin Shiloh, his head lowered as he moves to press his black and white speckled muzzle to his brothers own in clear affection. They had been close as children, Starfall so often seeking Guardian whenever it was Azrael had upset him, Guardian in turn so often trying to have Azrael see in Starfall what he and Andromeda always had and yet, for whatever reason, their sire still refused. Maybe it did not matter anymore, their Father’s favour had never bothered Guardian all to much and here in Taviora, his brother was free of it, he had to be happy here- Guard is sure.

“Its been a while, eh?”

He moves to lower his towering, tall ebony frame to the earth, red tipped tail folding about his paws as he does, offering his sibling a beaming lopsided grin as he chuckles slightly, forever the optimist, the boys nature so very personable, so very…gentle, despite all that he has trained form, young form so fit and toned, so ready for the path he has chosen in life. Though always……always he will have time for Starfall, to walk beside him when he wanders in his land of dreams. He pauses then to allow those gorgeous eyes to rest upon Shiloh, offering her a toothy grin all her own.

“Tis nice ta see ya again, Shiloh. Ya is lookin’ just as lovely as ya always do. Imma’ thinkin’ dat da forest agrees wit ya.”

That cheeky grin flashes once more as he teases playfully at his dark and gold cousin before those gentle eyes return once more to Starfall.

“I been missin’ ya, Brudda. Ya should come ‘ome sometime an visit us.”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
