The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Curiosity can be a cruel mistress. Unforgiving and cold as it drives people and wolves alike to complete insanity. It is a tool used for foul play, and yet our young still see it as 100% harmless. But they, sadly, are mistaken. It nips at your feet like cold brambles sticking into your haunches. It reels you back. Many strive to forget about what it is driving them closer, and as they are distracted by the sensation of wanting to walk away, it pulls. Deeper and deeper into the mind it pulls until you are heading into the exact same direction in which you were trying to avoid. Cruel, as said before. But, unlike wolves who used it for ill will, Zev liked the idea. Trying to find things, searching for something that isn’t quite there, the exhilarating feeling when you hit a lead that takes you to a place you still have never been before. Somewhere in the world where even your breath has not touched. His tall muscled body followed the eve in front of him, the towering sentinels of the forest reaching up into the sky. They were fearless, guarding something that he had never seen before. Cruel. Exhilarating.

His head raised as the scent of pine hustled up his nares, mingled with distant taste of wolf and unique traces of other things as well. And with the small conversation he heard in his heed evaporated, the single taste of a howl burst through the air. It was the first time Zev had heard his mate howl. It was cold and breathless, unwieldy and wistful all the same. The baron loved it. The small tasteful moments disappeared however, gone into the wind as he felt her small body lean up against his own. And he melted. How was it that she could have such power over him. But she had started to pull away, and the inside of his heart was screaming for air. Though he held himself together, he reached forward and dug his claws into the dark dirt underfoot as he waited for whoever it was that was going to arrive.

Minutes kept arriving, paleing in the afternoon sun and dying away into the forever limelight. The tension in his feet, collective, draining away as Athene kept leaning into him. And the constriction diminished. Zev’s lips parted, as if he was about to say something more, but the soft footfalls of a lupine turned his head. He was a male, white and black and eerie in every single way. But perhaps this was what this pack was all about. The eerie and the lonely all gathered into one place. Oh, but Zev wasn’t alone; hopefully he would never be alone again.

Zev was listening, though none of the words registered into his ears. He was too busy gathering what he could, the information he didn’t know as well as the ones he did. It took his breath away, and a second cloudy sparks flashed in his eyes. But he wasn’t afraid. He wasn’t frightened. He was...curious. The soft rhythm of Athene’s voice started to echo in his auds, pulling him back to his mind and sending him into comfortable footing again.

Worry naught, sir, about your entrance.
We are the guests whereas you belong.
Patiently we waited and you didn’t take too long.

You are correct about us with only one glance.
Your assumption is not at all wrong
Your instincts must be right and rather strong.

I am Athene and this is my mate
Zev is his name. Now to set you straight –
We wish to join the ranks of this pack
I assure you, of strengths we do not lack.

I myself was born into a family
Where we were raised as we should aptly
My skills set me as a warrior apart
Thus I have strength, wisdom, and heart.

As for him, you will have to ask.
Telling of his own self is his own task.

What did he have to say for himself? “I promise loyalty, as my skill sets are still being determined with whichever career I should want to take. I can provide you with strength, honor, and dignity. But other things I will have to earn later.” He nodded, raising from his perch as he felt the ground underneath him; it was strong and powerful. It provided reassurance and an alternate. He smile formed in his kissers, and the curiosity inside of him built.
