The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Screaming at
the moon

Aine pulled herself to weary feet, head pounding. The anxieties that always fluttered in her chest were carefully tucked away as her lean form scrambled after the scents of her mother and siblings. After all, being left behind would be a nightmare, as Aine simply could not imagine a life of solitude. Even the thought felt like a hand crushing her larynx, and the thought alone pushed her young girl forward. She would prove that she was just as capable as her brothers, that she deserved to stay by her mothers side. Just they wait.

The young ess took a little more after her father, with the clear build of an Arctic Wolf. Her coat was a white sheen, broken on by a light gray splodge across her left brow. Pale green laterns searched frantically for her mother, hoping the older ess would come into her line of view soon. Sure enough, she caught sight of her brothers, and made a point of trailing not too far behind, still unwilling to get closer and possibly provoke a conversation. She was simply too nervous for idle pleasantries and it was her duty to keep her brothers calm and collected, something she felt she would not be capable of in this state. Whining lowly enough that the others would not hear her, the young girl took a deep breath before lifting her head and shoulders slightly higher and willing herself to continue forward.

Still, she needed more time to shake this irrational fear of the unknown, and that is why she hung back as the rest of her family sat upon the border waiting patiently. She could hear them talking and murmuring to each other, and she could not stop herself from flinching slightly at her mothers tale. She did not ever want to have to endure something like that; she had no idea how her mother had survived in the first place, as Aine would've been tempting to lie on the ground unmoving until it swallowed her whole. However, when a new scent washed over the girl, she lifted her head, focussing on whoever it was addressing her mother with familiarity. A newfound determination bloomed in the girls chest as she realised she should be out there, beside her siblings and backing her mother, not hiding away in the shadows like a coward. Taking one last calming breath, the girl stepped out into visibility, silently moving to take a seat behind her mother without drawing too much attention to herself.
