those who do not learn from history
are doomed to repeat it
I looked at the group. It was a happy family. It was a family I had always wanted. I smiled and just let myself rest. Sokka continued his meal and then I felt him detach. I watched him yawn and crumple into an adorable pile for a nap. I felt much the same. Sylvia spoke back and I laughed.
“Ya onleh ge’ naps if ya’ll return da fava,” I yawned. “Maybeh we’ll ged luckeh an’ day’ll ‘ire each oda oud.” I rubbed my head against the base of Sahin’s neck. It was good to be here. He spoke to Elliot and I sort of zoned out. My own exhaustion catching up to me. I forgot how tiring this whole birthing thing was.
Sylvia spoke about being shy.
I don’t think I was ever shy. I was scared but never shy. I didn’t have the lack of energy to be shy. Never had to worry much about that…
Suddenly another voice spoke up and my head shot up. I must have begun to doze off. I looked to see the little spotted buckskin had decided to speak. I nodded.
“Yep,” I said proudly. “‘e jus’ god ‘ere. Sun do, ‘e’ll beh readeh da run ‘boud an’ ‘ave loads o’ fun.” I smiled. “Jusd give ‘im a couple o’ days da ged ‘is legs unda ‘im.” I dropped my head back to Sahin’s withers.
