This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time

Mera did not miss the loneliness that echoed in his voice despite his obvious excitement upon seeing her. It was the same tone that had underlined his voice when she had first met him upon this beach so many seasons ago. Giving a playful squeal with he had tugged at her forelock just as he always did, she only took one step away not wanting any more space to be between them after being gone for so long. “I’ve missed you too” she said happily.

As he drew back after acquiring a few drops of salty water from her coat she reached out to playfully nip at the locks hanging just behind his ear. “Is that a few grey strands I see in there?” she teased in return before she became quiet at the news of new foals and the births she had missed. “Oh my! Is Dia okay?” she asked, hoping that her friend was. Mera was eager to meet the young colts now that she knew of them and could mentally kick herself for leaving when she had to explore her birth home; or what was left of it.

Moving to stand shoulder to shoulder with her father and to lean in and press against him, Mera reached to nibble at his neck in a loving but teasing manner she wanted nothing more than to chase away that loneliness that she had heard. Maybe standing this close to him he wouldn’t feel it anymore or perhaps a good run? “When was the last time we raced?” she said though knew perfectly well when that had been. Their first and only adventure onto the Crossing. “I bet you can’t beat me now that my legs have grown.” She challenged in good spirits. “Let’s have a race before you introduce me to the foals.”
