aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

The femme was not thinking about what she must look like to her friend, was not concerned with how Magic was looking at her. Empty yellow pools looked towards her friend when she realized that she was not alone by the small area of the lake. It took he a moment to recall who the lupine in front of her was, but once she realized it was Magic she felt a little better, even if she didn’t realize it right away. The worst thing she could do right now was to be by herself, away from everyone that could help her, from the ones that cared about her. Right now it felt like no one cared about her, that she didn’t have a single friend in the world. But that wasn’t true, quite the opposite actually. Magic, her dearest and closest friend, had come to her aid, had come to help her when she was at her lowest point. And Chenzii remembered how the black femme had been with her when he left her the first time. Her friend had been there that time too and she was here now. Magic would always be here. Her friend’s words reached her audettes and it took her a moment to process the words. “Oh, Chenzii,” she spoke as the femme curled around the similarly colored ess. It took the emaciated femme a moment to realize who was next to her but when she did she relaxed a bit, sighing as she leaned into her friend’s warmth and comfort. She really did not know how she would survive without her friend.

After a few moments a few raspy words were forced out of the throat of Chenzii. She had not spoken in weeks and her throat felt unused and raw. Usually she was a talker, but not now, she hadn’t spoken since he had left. The other femme seemed to realize how much help that Chenzii needed and spoke again, “I will be right back. I promise, Chenzii, I will help you.” An unconscious whine escaped the smaller femme’s throat when he friend gently stood up. Was Magic abandoning her just like he had done to her? Was Chenzii to helpless and pathetic making her friend want to leave? No, that couldn’t be it. Magic said she was going to help, and Magic had never lied to her. But then again he had lied to her, he had said he would not leave her and yet that was exactly what he had done. Her gaze followed her friend as she ran out back into the trees. Anxiety pierced Chenzii. What if Magic never came back? She kept telling herself that she would come back, that her friend would not abandon her when she needed her most. Magic would return, she had to. The black femme lay her head back on her paws, curling back up into her ball of comfort, trying to keep herself together.

It was not long though before a new scent reached her nares mingling with Magic’s. Food, fresh food. Her stomach growled and she began to salivate immediately, not realizing how hungry she had really been until the scent of fresh meat reached her. The femme got to her feet, a little shakily but got up all the same as Magic approached. “I got a rabbit for you, my friend. Sit up for me so you can eat.” A hare was dropped at Chenzii’s paws and within seconds she was tearing aggressively into the fresh meat. An unconscious growl escaped her as she ate quickly, scarfing down the much needed food, not even taking a moment to chew it. Blood covered her snout when she turned back to Magic, feeling selfish for not saving her anything, she was the one who had caught it after all. As her tongue flicked out to lick the blood from her she looked apologetically at her friend as she lay back down, ”I’m sorry I didn’t save any for you. Thank you Magic, I didn’t realize quite how hungry I was I guess.” Her voice trailed off as she looked away in embarrassment.

Chenzii looked over in surprise when she felt her friend’s form behind her again, keeping her safe. Magic spoke again, softly to her friend, “Would you like to talk about it, Chenzii? Take your time; I will be here until it is time for me to go.” The ebony femme frowned and looked away. She was not sure what there was to say. He had said he loved her, told her he would not leave her again, and then he left her again. That was all there was to it, so what was there to talk about? She would give it a try though, for Magic, ”I…I guess I just don’t know what to say. He told me he wouldn’t leave again, and then, well you know. He…he did. I guess I should have expected it after he left the first time, but he promised, told me he loved me and everything, but I guess I wasn’t enough for him.” Her words trailed off as tears pricked at the side of her orbs and she quickly looked away, not wanting Magic to see that she was about to cry. Chenzii, under no circumstances, cried in front of others. But then again she had never felt this low before in her life.

“Testing my Reply”
"We were never meant to last," She whispers.
