Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

how long will we blame the devils on our shoulders

I find myself having few interests in Taviora come the winter. I do not know why but such a large gathering of wolves becomes almost insufferable during such a season. They are loud, clustering and speaking beneath their breaths; I despise watching them swept up in their own petty worlds. It is winter and yet they act as if it is some time to grow closer; it is a time to hunt, to prepare one's self for the harshness of the ongoing cold. Winter is young, as are the fawn and the hares that experience their first cold. That is what I seek out here. If the pack will not be prepared then I shall be. Unlike others, I shan't absorb the weaknesses of the masses.

It is the fields I have returned to once more. I know the area well; I know the gentle slopes and the sparse fields of snow peppered grass. The island, the water, it is all within my mind now. I have found the fox hollows and the warrens; in time, the deer and elk shall come to. All I need to do is wait here, biding my time or at least until I am called back to Taviora for some wretched task. I am sure Coszcotl finds some pleasure in appointing me children to teach, though I find each and every one of them utterly pointless. Dexter might have been interesting and yet, he is the son of an Alpha who will bring only more attention to me. Out here, at least, I am able to hide, revealing myself only when I please. Today, there is something that makes me wish to reveal myself.

I had found her scent laced along the grass like the very snow; it was one I remembered from so long ago, a scent linked to trickery and blood. She was one of the few who proved to me that there were others like me - others who did not blindly follow and questioned the ideals of this world. She had thieved and feasted with me. Now, she lurks away from me as a ghost. Where has she been? It matters now for I have found her now. My nose follows the tops of the grass, inhaling the scent - she is close. I cannot help but feel a stirring of pleasure at my discovery and yet such a feeling is interrupted by sudden movement. As the creature flies through the grass ahead, I recoil back and below the grassline, concealing myself.

Still, I watch as the male - his scent now a bother - races to the sands. It doesn't take him long to flop onto his side and I sneer in quiet amusement; only so long ago I had been just there. I do not like the way he treats this place as his own, however, and I like even less the way the grass moves by him so slightly. It is where her scent leads. I can even catch a glimpse of her grey and black: she is a shadow among the reeds and white. I cannot help but wonder what she is up to, for the movement stops just as mine begins. I will find out soon as I move some meters from her, finding her among the reeds just as well. I pass her a glance, met with the same eyes I remembered. My attention, though, has shifted to the male.

He lays before the two of us seemingly unaware, and I cannot help but put two and two together. Was she playing some sort of game? My lip twitches up into a toothed grin as I step onto the sand, surely pulling his attention towards me as I stand beside him, moving around until I am more in front of him. She has his back now, though I do not know what she plans to do with it.

"Found you."

I speak the words for Boleyn, though nothing gives it away. My face remains flat as does my voice, my eyes boring into the male. She will know. She should have waited for me.
