The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Light shone through the needles of the pine forest, setting aflame the life and area of the forest. It shone like pearls, each bead of dew fibers of glass strewn every which way upon the leaden ground. Cracked fractals of jewel bleeding into the dirt and soil reminded the sun of earth’s pleasurable moments. Some of perhaps many of the few moments still existing on the planet. Though, the bright light of the day did nothing to break the darkness in the duchess’ sight. The roof of her den felt solid and hard, the musty scent of it sending nostalgia running through her veins. And it tasted sweet. Her white body broke the surface of the air. The sunshine hit her face and body and set it on fire, a warm glow banishing the harsh body of the night. The ess’ ink-dyed paws found the ground again, and set off towards water, the only strong scent that had any chance of overcoming the scent of pine.

Mink’s cranium drifted low to the ground, waiting for the scent of berries to send her to the right. Even with her blind sight, the trails of Andere had her memorized, just as she had done to them. She knew where to turn at just the right moment, the blades of her fur twitching against the side of the blockades in her path. And soon, the small roar of fresh water beat down into her aud; a smooth drum coming to claim another wake of a day. Though another sound woke her from her sleepy daze as the water slipped down her throat. It was a voice she recognized, but it was the first time she had heard it howl. Mink had not encountered Cade since she had been accepted, as she had not been here for long herself. Her ears flickered in the calming wind, and she found herself moving.

It was a simple daze of the day. Summer was almost over, which pained the girl much so. Most of this time had been spent sleeping, so on days she found herself waking in the middle, she panicked; wasting half of an afternoon had not ever been on her agenda. Mink’s white bodice manouvered through thickets of thorns and bushes, travelling through the scent of pine to those of other wolves. And, two of the newest wolves she had not met. One male while the other a female; their scents were intertwined. The small clearing blasted sounds of breathing and presentable behavior. The fae waited her turn after the newcomers finished.

“Cade. It is wonderful to be here.” The blind vixen found herself sitting to the right of the female wolf at a distance. Her kissers formed into a smile, and she turned herself toward her and the wolf at her side.. “Welcome to Andere. I am Mink. I hope your stay here turns out to be pleasant.” Her head turned back towards the sky, soaking up every bit of sunshine the day was going to give her
