Sokka was pretty sure the adults were going to continue to talk about boring things. So he set himself to looking around. He decided not to pick up his hooves and explore. At least too far. He moved a little, but stayed close to Dia.

The Ridge was quite a bit different from the Paradise. It was a bit windier. There was still the oppressive heat. Sokka wondered if there was a storm brewing. He glanced around and kept coming back to Pilar. Her ears were twisted up and weird. He snorted and cocked his head again. Dia and her kept talking…

“Why’re yer ears curved lahke dat?” He blurted, interrupting the conversation. Dia planted a quick nip on his hip.

“Sawkha! Da’ wuz rude!” She stated. “Say yer sawreh!”

“Is jus’ a question,” Sokka muttered dejectedly. He glared at his mother, his rump hurting just a bit. He was met with Dia’s steely stare. “Fahne! Ah’m sawreh.” He still sounded like a little kid and Dia planted another nip on his rump. He jumped and flattened his ears at his mother.

“Sawkha! Say id lahke ya mean id!”

“But Mamma!”

“Naw buds!”

“It wus jus’ a quest’n,” Sokka muttered. Dia looked at Pilar.

“Ah’m sawreh,” Dia said. “Ah dunno whad’s godd’n inda ‘im.” Sokka snorted in response. He was just saying what he was sure everyone thought.
