It was a busy little gathering, our group of forest and mountain wolves. Even so, there was no rush to the conversation. Everyone had something to contribute, and it was only the wolf Everchime who seemed anxious during the ongoing discussion. There was something shifty about her demeanor, though I could not say what it was. Of course upon Pan’s arrival she had practically exploded, rushing across the borders to meet with him even as I invited them all to join us. I could not help but chuckle as I watched their embrace, for Pan had certainly never come across as one much for sentiment. My thoughts on the tan wolf’s behavior all but evaporated, and I refocused my attention upon Solaris as he and his sister crossed into Spirane.
Lavender’s suggestion had previously been met with a comment by Everchime, before Pan’s arrival. I addressed the idea now, nodding my head to her. “I think that would be a lovely idea, for you to perhaps travel to Taviora and discuss such events with Everchime and Banshee,” I said. Even if Lavender did not end up showing the potential required for Hand, as an Emissary for the pack she would be more than capable of organizing such affairs.
As Everchime and Pan slipped into their own private discussion, I mimicked Solaris’s own movement and lowered myself to sit opposite of him. I listened to the words Solaris spoke; he agreed to the terms I had proposed, and then laid forth his own. They were most agreeable terms, and I knew that we were well on our way to paving the road of alliance between Taviora and Spirane once more. I had had little doubt that such a thing would be possible, but it was a small relief to see it come to light. “Spirane houses many proficient warriors; we would be more than happy to share our skillfulness in the field with yours, and in turn learn those talents which you house. I am sure that much would be the same across other disciplines – healing, hunting, diplomacy. There is a wealth of knowledge that could be shared between our packs.”
Always I was aware of Pan and Everchime a short distance away, and my ears twitched slightly, catching the odd word here and there of their conversation. A missing pup? I was no mother, and did not wish to become one any time in the near future, but I could only imagine the torment that losing a child would inflict upon oneself. Though I remained focused on Solaris and the business at hand, again my ears flicked, this time catching the sound of movement from the direction in which Natu and the mystery youngwolf who had been with her were traveling. Something felt amiss, but for the moment, I regarded Solaris, focused on the bond we were rebuilding between our packs.
