Shae had so clearly been spoilt in his absence, lavishing the kindness that wolves were simply expected to show her; the loyal pup at their father’s paws. For when Harries had spoken unkindly to her, her perfect eyes had glazed over with a cool hardness that even he was impressed with- even though it angered him. Shae had learnt from an early age to mimic the stern gaze of their father and even now, put it to good use. Harries knew that he would be scorned for his actions towards her, with or without their sire around to insist on a fitting punishment. Shae could concoct her own despicable tormenting torture and though he would never admit it, the maned prince would never want to fall on his darling sibling’s bad side. For even though she was a beckon of peace between warring packs, Shae was the most cunning and devilish member of the family and was truly a force to be reckoned with.
Harries was soon alerted to this fact as the lass’ lips pulled up and taught over her canines and exhibited a similar response from Harries himself. Father had always valued boys over girls- males carrying on the family name and creating purebloods to join his army- however Shae was different and she knew it. It could be said in fact that she adored her title and place within the family, finding more pros than cons. Being her father little errand boy earned her rights that Harries could only dream of- even though settling down and choosing his own mate were completely out of the question. No-one could control Harries’ sexual life. Shae was their sire’s prized possession, out of all the litters he had created and yet she was expendable. Just like the rest of them. And so the male was not surprised that she was making herself useful- even despite his irritation at the subjects she had chosen to converse with him.
Throughout her little speech- obviously words their father had etched into her conniving brain- Shae had hinted at mixed emotions. Her eyes saying one thing; words another. Worry fled from her lanterns at the obvious danger that was heading his way should he not complete his father’s wishes, but Harries had been threatened on many an occasion before and was still living to tell the tale. That didn’t mean however that the pauper did not fear their father; for he was the only living creature on the face of the earth that struck a cold iced dagger of terror into the maned creature’s heart. That worry was soon extinguished as Akuji was mentioned and though he remained stoic, Harries found it hard to hide the fury burning within him. But that would have to wait for later- he would think of some horrific torment to drive his brother insane.
