aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

....................................................................................................................................................................................

He had never wished for his daughter to see him in such a state, and indeed she rarely did. Blayre had had such a terrible start in life that he had always strived to save her from any more terrible things. He had wanted to keep everything from harming her and protect her from the entirety of the world, and it was only when the Prince of Malignant Felicity had upset the pack had Kalgalath realized that there was no way that he could protect her from everything. Nikandros had managed to steal one of his pack member’s pups right from under his nose despite his best efforts, and while Kalgalath had sought to fight it out, it had been Blayre to save the day. She had calmed down her father, calmed the storm of a rage within him enough for him to see reason. To see that there was no sure way to win at the end of the day without injuries and losses… except for giving it all up. By giving up his power and control, the situation had been salvaged. None had been injured, Khaleesi had been saved, and Kalgalath had learned that though his daughter was young, she was wise.

But from this… it was from this that he could indeed protect her. She may come to hate him for robbing him of the only mother she has ever had, but he would not allow the scene that was to come to scar her vision or her memories. Blayre would see the result, but not how it happened. The fight that was to come, be it merely verbal or physical as well, would not stain her innocence. He would not stand for that.

After she disappeared, he spoke cold, cold words to Zig, and is not overly surprised when Cody responds in her stead. No. I’ve been a member of this pack longer than you, Kalgalath. I know what this land has gone through, the wolves that have come and gone, the problems we have had. I can’t say it was right for me to leave, but I’ve always been loyal to this land and the wolves within. If you think you can get rid of me with a threat, think again. Leave Zig alone. His vocals gruff and cold, Kal shakes his cranium, arctics laying upon him instead now. “You may have been a member of this pack before me, and perhaps it may be true that you have been a member of this pack longer than me, but it is not true that you continue to be a member. You have not been a member of this pack in a long while, since Sin’s death, since I was elected by the remaining members. You do not know the wolves who live here now, and you do not know the troubles that have happened in the absence. You may have in the past, but no longer. And should a threat not work, I will chase you out with my teeth digging into your flesh if need be. You are not welcome within these borders.

Cody directed the conversation to Blayre. I helped your daughter. You think this is the way to say thank you to someone for that? Or would you have rather me leave her there, alone, unprotected, and in pain. A soft smile graced Kalgalath’s smile upon his maw randomly and unwarranted. “I do thank you for being there for her. That is why I did not immediately chase from these grounds. Let me officially thank you for aiding her, she in the star in my life. Now please. Leave my packlands.

Once more he directed his attention to the femme he had thought would be his second chance at love. His facial expression softened for a second as he thought of all their conversations, all of their nights together… and then realized that their relationship had never been consummated. It was not something he would have ever required of her, but it did put a damper on memories. They had not spent nearly enough time together… barely enough to really know each other. She had told him all about Cody and he had told her all about Nika. Perhaps that was where they had gone wrong. Their love had been built from their failures at love. That was not how it was meant to be. That was not how it should have been done.

Cold orbs found Zig’s gaze once more. “I reiterate what I stated Zig. I want you gone. You and I… we are done. You no longer of Alphess of Aurora Borealis, you are no longer in this pack. These words are my command. Zig, you have two choices. Follow what I say, or challenge me. Consider this my challenge for your position. For your position to be emptied forever by your presence.” Even as he spoke, he felt his heart breaking and grew cold. He had to remove emotion from this, for even as he spoke, he realized that he still loved her. The brute had to block that out… for if she chose to fight him… if she accepted him challenge… he could not hold back. He would not lose this battle.
