Love all your perfect imperfections

”Mom!...Mom!. Look Dad is back!”

Her sons voice interrupted her thoughts as she pulled herself from her patch of grass where she had been eating. Soft velvet ears moved forward with hope and anxiety as her soft ocean blues caught the faint outline of an aureate stallion who strode quietly. Long pale tendrils twisted in knots – hung loosely against the mans chiseled nape.

”come on mom lets go catch him before he leaves!!”

Bounding forward her son leaped forward a few feet before throwing his golden head back to look at his mother with shining hazel eyes that matched his fathers. The very sight of him made her chest clench. Being strong for Elliot had begun to wear on Sylvia and desperately our prudent banshee tried to hide it from her son. Sylvia is not convinced that hiding behind her mask of confidence is the best thing for Elliot but she did know that becoming depressed and not being here for him like his father isn’t an option either.

”oh honey that’s not your father” her voice is barely above a whisper

Elliot’s excitement in his face drained instantly being replaced by shame and sadness. ”well then who is he?” glancing back at the palomino man who was now closer to them Elliot heard his mother move forward and walk past him nuzzling his shoulder as she went. ”come dear” his mother’s words are gentle and coaxing forcing his legs to move forward even though he noted that she hadn’t told him who it is.

Sylvia’s heart felt as though it were going to explode from her chest

She could hear it pounding in her ears as they walked over towards Tarrant. Sylvia hadn’t seen the male man in years – not since the day he showed up in the harbor looking for Midas – he whom chased him out with harsh words and drove all of his family away from him who had been curious enough to approach.”it’s your grandfather son” pausing Sylvia waited to ensure her son had heard her before she looked down at him ”Tarrant? Sylvia nodded ”yes dear”

Without giving Elliot a chance to ask more questions Sylvia continued forward closing the distance

As she did so her pale lips erupted a low nicker of greeting to him all of the sudden feeling completely shy. She wondered if this stallion even knew she existed – probably not given the circumstances with his son. Elliot snorted in greeting as he came up beside her as they together halted near Tarrant. ”hello Tarrant what a surprise to see you” Sylvia paused feeling the cool autumn breeze lace threw strands of her pearl mane. ”I don’t know if you know me but my name is Sylvia, I was one of Midas’s first and last mares he had here” she stopped feeling tears swell up. A lump in her throat threatened to take over giving away her emotional distress. ”I was his queen for a while in the end..” now her voice is just a whisper as her eyes cast away from Tarrant’s brilliant emerald ones. ”this here is Elliot, Midas and I’s Son” nodding in her sons direction Elliot looked over at his mother and felt an overwhelming sense to protect her. Snorting the buckskin yearling stepped forward only a couple of steps and stared down his grandfather ”hello” feeling overwhelming shy Elliot tucked his head downwards before puffing up his chest and looking back at the palomino roan. ”have you seen my father? He left after meeting me once back at our old home in the ridge. He left my mother for the second time and my sister” shock swept over Sylvia’s face as she threw her head up and snorted in objection to her sons words ”Elliot! That will be enough” glancing back at his mother Elliot narrowed his eyes ”why he might know something we don’t”. Sylvia looked at Tarrant feeling her cheeks burning crimson ”I’m so sorry please don’t mind Elliot. He’s a little angry with the whole situation”.
