The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
you’re here until you die

Vesti

Vesti listened intently as El Aran dropped a lot of information on her. She would have to sort through it later, it was a lot to process. These were times when she figured she might be able to use the Voice. It tended to remember things she didn’t.

Don’t bring me into this crazy! No choice. I’m involved. You’re involved. This is how it works. I didn’t agree to that. Yes you did. When? When you took up residence in my head. Now, pay attention!

It was clear that there were some very twisted other lands out there. It made Vesti curious. She’d never considered bloodlines as meaning, well, anything. Then again, she had no ruler to measure such emotions by. El Aran’s story was long and full of difficulties. Vesti couldn’t help but feel this woman’s sorrow. Her desperation.

They can’t all be bad, The Voice commented. Though, I don’t know if I’d tell her that. Have we even met a purebred? They don’t seem common out here. Who knows. How can you tell a purebred from a mixed breed? Uh… well, we’ll see I guess. Just make notes about these Akhal-Tekes. Fine. Fine.

“There was an arabian here a bit ago,” Vesti admitted. “She wasn’t here long. In fact, she was leaving just as I was getting home. She wasn’t grey though. She was gold with flecks of white on her underbelly. I didn’t think much of it.” No, she wouldn’t mention Orhan’s attitude or his involvement. It would be best to leave him out of this until she had a chance to talk with him.

“I will keep an eye out for any arabians or akhal-tekes, El Aran,” She said. She smiled. “And running is one thing I’m very good at. I know this island. I’ve wandered it backwards and forwards for many years. I know arabs are good in the desert, but we always have an advantage at home.” She’d support El Aran, delusions or not. The mare had given her no reason to worry about her sanity. Perhaps this hatred was misguided, or not. She certainly seemed to have experienced many horrors.
