Birch's lips quirked a little - she couldn't help it - at Rochambeau's attempt to cheer Sperantia. The cat had a lot of serious things on her mind, things that wouldn't be resolved by a good game of "kill the shiny", but it was clear Ro was eager to help in the only way he knew how. When she tapped the ball, sending it skittering towards the counter, Ro eagerly hopped after it and sent it spiraling back. He didn't know if she would play with him, as he hoped she would, but he took it as a good sign that she even bothered to poke at it. Silence fell again though, a serious sort of silence that caused Ro to heave a heavy, long-suffering sigh, as Sperantia considered Birch's words.

Birch nodded along as she listened carefully, both because she was interested in what Sper had to say (she had heard some rumors about the "death" of the gods, but wasn't exactly sure how it all worked), and because it was so familiar. This teaching tone Sperantia took on, the same tone she'd developed when she had shown Birch and Torram to their home here at the Commune when they'd first arrived. The "true" Sperantia, the one that remembered, was still there. She just had to find herself again.

"Ahhh, that makes more sense," Birch said, nodding in agreement. "It definitely didn't work the way they, the other deities I mean, seemed to have expected. The others are taking awhile to recover, longer than I think was planned from what I understand. Which, I have to admit, is not a lot, I've been a bit out of the loop up until recently due to injury."

Birch, ever the warrior, gave a little shrug at that. She cracked a small smile as Sperantia continued speaking of Mallos now.

"I've heard he's woken up since you left, but they're keeping him under observation Danny says. I know Thoth is still in the infirmary there, so that's probably where he heard it from," she answered, then nodded. "Basically... Though I'm sure he probably won't agree with that take of things. Maybe you should tell him that? I don't know, seems like it might be helpful to talk to him, if you can bear it..."

She stood, peering out the window at the coming dawn. "Either way, Sperantia, you're always welcome here, for as long as you like. I know we're still strangers to you, the lot of us, but we owe you a great debt. You and Mallos both."

"I have lots of toys!" Ro chimed in helpfully, as if the availability of toys would convince the serious cat to stay for a time.
