Rohmarr was far too exasperated with his companion to notice Arthur's amusement, but he did notice that the older man seemed to understand at least. His stance, which had grown a bit stiff in preparation for a rebuke, relaxed again, even going so far as to tip his lips up at the corners in a small smile. They were a bit alike in that sense, it seemed, both experiencing emotion but wary about sharing it with others. Perhaps in another life, the two would have found themselves friends. As it was, the seed of loyalty had been planted and, with time and tending from both sides, it would eventually flourish. Trouble, oblivious of the bird's disgruntled opinion of him, was squinting at both king and bird with fascination (resembling, as he did, an furry old man whose sight had faded with age). He made out mostly a large blur of color, the king, and a smaller blur of lighter colors, but he heard the voice and click of a beak perfectly.

"I forgive him," Trouble peeped graciously, no doubt annoying the bird even further. Rohmarr tweaked his familiar's ear lightly and the raccoon added (while rubbing said ear with a paw), "Your Grace."

Rohmarr cleared his throat a bit awkwardly, sensing Pendragon's disapproval and feeling no small amount of gratitude that the familiar's dislike of Trouble wasn't carried over to the king and himself. Of course, Trouble (as per usual) was utterly oblivious to this, and was of the opinion he and the bird got along perfectly well. He even gave a small wave as the bird flew overhead, earning an eyeroll from Ro as he did. As the King continued, Ro's lips twitched. Would that be part of his duties, then, chasing down this mysterious Eater of Rugs to protect the king's precious furnishings? The idea was almost enough to push a chuckle out of Rohmarr, but he managed to contain it before it escaped.

"Don't get any ideas," Ro rumbled to Trouble, who looked at him with utter innocence. Just because the king let his son's friend's familiar run amuck now and then did not mean Trouble had an excuse to do the same. Rohmarr hoped, as their bond continued to grow and develop, that Trouble would eventually feel safe enough to be apart from him while he worked. Although that would also mean Trouble would be unsupervised for at least part of the time, which made Rohmarr's innards shudder with dread at the endless possibilities of what his familiar could get into without him.

The tearing of paper interrupted Rohmarr's musings, and the man felt himself relax a few shades more. It was done, official, and neither of them could change their minds now. A true smile curved on Rohmarr's dark features, feeling as if just one of his many weights had been lifted from him. Wilfred accepted the paper with a grateful nod, folding it and placing it in an inner pocket of his shirt. He decided he'd likely make an appointment with Lord Mordred soon - paper was never safe in the presence of Trouble, even though he knew as well as Ro did the importance of this particular paper - but for now he'd just have to keep it out of Trouble's reach. "I'll do that, thank you."

Arthur got to his feet and Rohmarr prepared to be handed off to someone else, finding himself a bit relieved (to his surprise) that the king was not quite done with him yet. With the king's backing, at least to the extent that he would show him to the barracks at least, would probably help him to some extent.

"I'd appreciate that, Your Grace," he answered. He shrugged his shoulders, shifting Trouble's paws into a more comfortable position, as he followed after the older man. "To whom will I be reporting, sir, or will they figure that out amongst themselves?"

Rohmarr was fine either way, though he would have liked to know a bit about the Captain he would be serving under if he could.
