Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Alone

Yes, that's the key word, the most awful word in the English tongue. Murder doesn't hold a candle to it and hell is only a poor synonym.

I moved like the phantom I was from Asteraia's borders, slipping back into the shadows of the world I was used to. I was still uneasy in the packlands, surrounded by wolves that could be a little overwhelming. I was a loner by nature, but slowly but surely I could feel it melting away from their friendly demeanors. The only true struggle was them understanding me without the use of words. They were so used to listening with their ears, but with me, they needed to listen with their eyes as I conveyed my thoughts and words through action. Maybe in time they would figure it out, but until then, I was still alone.

I was working towards becoming Hostarius, a position to keep me busy and useful. Being one with the shadows made me an excellent candidate at being top scout and spy. Iblis had given me two tasks: one he had yet to tell me, and the other to bring back a wolf to join the pack. I was competing against the female Delya for the position, and I didn't feel like loosing. So, this is why I venture back into the free lands.

I moved towards the sound of running water: the riverside. Along my way, I spot a rabbit which cues my stomach growling. It is fast, but I am much faster, and before it can get back to the safety of its hole, I am on top of it. It dangles from my mouth, blood dripping down its lifeless body as I carried it through the grass towards the water's edge. I was completely oblivious to the female I was headed towards until I was right upon her.

I jumped back in surprise slightly at the sudden appearance of the charcoal colored female. My split blue and green eyes stared at her curiously as she seemed to be hiding from something. I noticed how terrible thin she was, and the scars on her body. She seemed like she had been through so much, so I gently walked towards her, dropping the rabbit and nosing it closer to her for her to take. She needed it far more than I did.

I stared at her, my eyes holding no malice as I wondered what she could have been through. My own voice and memories gone so I simply couldn't tell her or anyone for that matter. I silently hope she eats as I gently lay down to come off less intimidating, even looking away from her and at the water to make sure I don't scare her.
