Re(1): The Golden Age of the Fifties

Marian, you are so right? The Fifties were insanely buttoned-down, except for science fiction and...auto design. I'll never forget those tail fins.

You tell us interesting info about Rod Serling. I can see what he was saying. Anything off the mainstream was likely to be called "Communistic."

Glad those days are gone, but glad we have some of the good writing of the era preserved.

P.S. Goldy and I just watched a film, "The Best of Everything," based on the book of that name by Rona Jaffe. Picture is dated 1959. Gag me with a spoon -- or a coal shovel! The only reason I wanted to see it was because Suzy Parker was in it. She was the only celebrity woman of the 1950s who did NOT look like Marilyn Monroe. I always thought she was interesting.
