The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

it is to judge and to be judged, to dream and to accept

That day when Cersei had offered to show me the birds, I had been quite excited to do a bit of exploring with her. I had always seen the seabirds circling above their rookery, but I had never been so close to the peak of stone itself. Even though we hadn’t been able to get the birds to come down, it had still been quite nice of my sister to show me the point where she could usually coax the birds down from. Maybe I would just have to give it a try myself someday, perhaps show another wolf who didn’t know about it. I was always keen to share the things that I knew with others, and to learn whatever I could from them in return.

So when my tricolored sister had invited me to join her on an outing to the freelands, I had jumped at the opportunity. Not literally, but I had been very receptive to the idea. She’d told me to meet her at the southernmost border of the Crags, by the overhanging tree. I certainly had not forgotten, for I rarely forgot anything I had been told. Now I moved through the Crags, descending a small cleft of rocky outcropping that was placed just behind and above where Cersei sat. She was unmistakable, perched among the upheaval of roots, her dark cinnamon coat brilliant against the muddy brown of the tree. Each paw was placed with the utmost care, but it did not take much effort these days to remain silent. I was getting better every day, and the Crags were one of my favorite places to practice. I descended without so much as shifting a pebble out of place, until I was on even ground with the knotted roots of the tree. I moved forward, stepping up onto the tree trunk, keeping my weight light on my feet so as not to shift the tree even so much as a millimeter.

I was within three feet of my sister when I spoke, hoping to take her by surprise, but not scare her. “Shall we?” I asked, smiling triumphantly. I really hoped she wasn’t just humoring me, that I had been able to get so close without so much as shifting a leaf to give away my approach. I loved to learn and teach others what I knew, but silence was my true aspiration.
