Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

She’d been caught in an act of absolute silliness, but she couldn’t help it. The girl was dainty, and Delya was already studying her softly. How odd it was, how gentle and strange the creature was… studying. Right. Looking, and trying to process what exactly was going through her head. The things in Delya’s head could get strange sometimes, but that was no matter. Her tail still wagged where she stood in the high water, eyes bright, splashing a bit at her new friend. She liked to splash, and the gesture was everything including playful and bright. How Delya praised play as the highest form of learning. “I’m glad, it’s such a lovely day…” The girl trailed off, eyes trained on the other creature.

And then she’s asked if it’s safe, and she giggles. It’s a soft sound, a playful sound, and every part of her body is wagging—that’s what happens when she can’t restrict it to just her tail. “Every time I’ve been in, it has… if you need help I’ll save you.” The Technicolor dreamer nods, watching with a careful gaze. Always watchful, always gentle, generally brilliant with others around her. There’s something special in her eyes, or at least, that was what dad had always said.

Delya flashes something brilliant, and she playfully pounces toward the other girl. Her tail is thrashing, wagging brilliantly as she moves through the slow moving water to drop into a play bow. “Delya, by the way!” Right, names were important in such a language based culture. Names could mean all, or names could mean everything. Could easily go either way. Such was her life.
