He had won.
The little monster stood over his prize, an elderly female of black and brown. She had been so easy, he had caught her by surprise, his large form coming down upon her easily putting her to the ground before his fangs found purchase in the most vitals of spots. She had struggled at first sure, but the inevidable happened son enough and it had been quick though that was not his real intent she was simply lucky that she didn’t struggle more than she had. He still had his breath, the summer was the best season for the little monster able to run longer and futher, that was, until it got too hot. Spring, Fall and late and early summer were his best seasons. The Monster though was happy his tail even wagged in delight with his prize as his fine, handsome features drawn into a pleased smile even as his eyes were bright and crazed.
He was happy, for the first time in his life since leaving the shadow and his fiery protector has he been successful in finally claiming the best prey. The thing that sated and filled his stomach the most, the thing that stopped him from being hungry and calmed him. Wolf Flesh. He hadn’t felt this good in a long time, not since his parents provided him the flesh he needed to survive on their own. His breathing felt good and steady like he could run for miles. Just everything felt so in place for him now.
His tail gave another wave before he greedily began to sink his fangs in tearing the flesh of the female and taking it in. He wouldn’t be able to take the whole meal at once but he didn’t want to, this would suffice him for a long time to come. He wasn’t sure if she had friends, her scent did not match anyone that he knew of though it did have scent of a pack on it, the thick scents so obvious but really when they were in the freelands meant so little to him.
Time would tell if her pack would reign down upon him, for now though there was nothing but the meal he feasted on.
