Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The sun was shining and causing a dancing rainbow of colors across the flowing river as the ivory vixen moved towards it, glancing around at the atmosphere around her, taking in the fresh air and the beautiful landscape. It seemed that most came here were either running from something, or somewhere, but Autumn was simply entering a new phase of her life. She had a family that loved her far away from here, her father was quite an intimidating character, but just like many in her homeland, he was a big softy when it came to his family. Her mother had been approving of everything Autumn had ever done or said, but had obviously worried for her daughter when she chose to start a life elsewhere. It wasn't the drama that made her step away from her home, but rather the lack of drama. This doesn't mean she intended to create it, only that the home she came from seemed too perfect, almost as if everything was scripted and planned.

She wanted an adventure, someplace where she could learn to care for herself, something she hadn't been able to do since leaving the comfort of her den as a pup. Her parents had always been there, taking care of her, teaching her. She had never been alone for long and now here she was staring across a large flowing river all by herself without her family to tell her what not to do. The freedom was amazing, it was like nothing she had ever felt. She took a deep breath, allowing the fresh air to move through her system and caught the scent of a few flowers by the bank. She moves slowly towards them and lowers her petite skull, taking in their scent and storing it as she gazed down at the water. She lowered her muzzle towards the liquid and dips her nose in experimenting with the temperature almost like a cat pawing at the surface. A soft giggle escapes her maw as a fish startles and jumps in front of her, leaving a beautiful display of rings in the water. The reflection that is looking back at her is one she had known for a while. She had been known for being the ugly duckling because her skull was too slim, and her frame was too thin and lithe. She had a covering of muscle, but nothing that was meant for fighting.

Autumn was not a fighter, and would never be a fighter. Not because she did not approve of fighting, but simply because she wasn't built for it, or at least that is what she had been told her whole life. To her father, she was a princess, to her pack, she was the diplomat and the talker of her litter. She was able to talk her way out of anything and everything. It was something that inherited from her mother whom was the diplomat of their pack. She was known for talking peace between enemies, and being able to unwind the tension between them. Autumn had developed the best part of her mother, but also developed the speed that had come from her grandmother. You see, both her parents were thicker framed wolves, taking on the timber wolf genes. Autumn was more steamlined, not too thin, but taking her genetics more from the Mackenzie Valley Wolf and the Arabian Wolf part of her family. She was thin like the arabian wolf, but still had some bulk from the valley wolf and the coloration.

The ivory and cream wolf always believed there was a reason for her being so different from her siblings, and while she was different, they never bullied her. She was beloved by her siblings and her parents, it was the other wolves in the other packs that she had issues with. She continued to ignore them, and one day when a fight broke out between the two packs and her mother was away hunting, it was Autumn that had separated the two packs and brought peace between them. That was the point in which the tides had changed and they stopped looking at her oddly. So when the time came to leave them, it was hard, it was extremely difficult. This was the only way she could learn to be on her own, and she figured it was about time.
