aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

The challenge, though there had been no fight, had drained him of his energy. Relief and grief both plagued him, as did a complete and total feeling of loneliness. It was, therefore, with haste that he responded to Chenzii's call. He felt bad - he had almost forgotten that he had sent her to Saw Tooth. In fact, he had begun to wonder where she had been, concerned for her well being. Upon seeing her, he realized that he had had no reason to worry for her. The eboness looked better than she had in a long while, perhaps looking healthier even than she did before Chiron had left her the first time. The mission to saw Tooth had done her well - it had given her a mission and a goal, something to focus upon. A job to do. A feeling of importance. Her plume had swayed when he came into her vision, and he had greeted her with a brief embrace. She had taken his compliment proudly, no doubt happy that she was back on her paws, trudging through life in the only way she knew how - one foot in front of another. As she began to recount her time at Saw Tooth's borders, Kalgalath zoned out, his mind thinking instead of Zig. Oh, God of Blayre - how would he break this to his daughter? He was thankful that at least she was now with Aindreas... and yet Kalgalath feared that at the same time. Aindreas was not a tactful one, and while Kal knew that Aindreas would likely try to be gentle, he would leave out no detail about what had occurred between Blayre's parents. He would be straightforward and brutally honest... great traits, but perhaps not ones that were desired when explaining to a teen that her parents were breaking up.

It was the silence that made him realize she had ceased her report. Quickly, his mind rewound the last few moments, picking out the take-home points. Moth was absent from the lands and the pack was silent. "It is okay Chenzii, it is good to know at least that she is absent. I hope that none try to steal her throne in her wake. Upon her return, we shall see about updating her, if she does not hear all of it on her travels." His voice was soft, saying the bare minimum where usually he would elaborate and question and jest. It did not pass Chenzii by, for mere moments later she was questioning him. But how have things been around here? How are you Kal? I’m sorry I was gone for so long. I promise I will not leave you or the pack again like that. I’m better now. Her suns bore into his arctics and he managed a smile, shaking his head. "You have nothing to apologize for, my friend. Your mate broke your heart twice and yet you still remain, perhaps even stronger than you ever were and with a better understanding of yourself. I am proud of you, in truth." The smile faltered and he broke her gaze, turning away from her. "Do you, remember what I told you the last time we spoke? It has come to pass. Zig... Zig and I... are no more." His heart ached, for it was the first time aloud he had revealed the knowledge to another. It was as if with this confession, it was finally real and true.

"A brute from her past, Cody, arrived at the boundaries and I found her embracing him after getting into an argument with me and telling me she would fight me for the rights to the pack. So I challenged her, and she backed down. I do not doubt, however, that she will return after training and try to fight me for it then, on her terms. I think she was in shock that I pushed the issue. But... for now she is no more. No longer is she welcome within these boundaries." He felt embarrassed - he was baring his soul and felt insecure about his lack of ability to hold onto those he loved. Keeping his gaze averted, he sighed, waiting for Chenzii to respond.
