The palomino’s barrel grew over the last several weeks. She was quite tired and very miserable pretty much all the time. Some of that had to do with the fact she wasn’t looking forward to this nor did she want to have any part in this. If she had her way, she would have this kid and just leave him in the bushes to die. She hated him even though she had never met him. As the days went by the hatred grew stronger.
Alibi felt the sharp pains going through her stomach. She knew the pains all too well. She looked around the area and seen a spot not too far off that she could make do with. She quietly and slowly walked that way. Every few steps she would dip her and grab a bite of grass but she let the blades fall from her mouth as she chewed. She really wasn’t interested in eating. Her limp had pretty much disappeared and the wound to her knee had scarred over nicely.
The contractions had started to be come closer together. She pinned her ears as she made her way to the trees. She looked around. As another painful contraction happened she buckled at the knees and went down a bit harder than she had intended. Breaths flowed from flared nostrils in between every push. She wanted this to be over. With one last push a beautiful colt entered the world. Alibi stayed down for a while. She rested herself, her breathing slowly returning to normal. Her neck and flanks were dampened with patches of sweat. She sighed and at last returned to standing.
She turned around and stared at the colt for a moment. His coat color was much lighter than hers. Thankfully he didn’t look like his father. That’s good she thought. She watched him for a moment longer as he slowly moved his legs and shook his head. She moved closer, reaching out to lick the fluids from his nose, mouth, and face. She nudged him quite hard on the side as he was trying to get up. She snorted. Idiot. Can’t even figure out how to stand up. She walked away leaving him alone. She stopped at the tree line though and watched as he finally figured out his legs and stood up for a few seconds before crashing to the ground. She watched, slightly amused with his frustration. The little colt managed to stand again and started to follow her as he wobbled here and there.
He made it to her however she showed no interest in him. Instincts told him to eat and he bumped his muzzle along her legs, belly, and flanks until he finally ducked under her and found what he was looking for. He suckled for a moment before Alibi snorted and side stepped away from him. She glared at him for a moment. The young colt was confused and had followed her steps but she took off away from him at a faster walk. She had worked up quite the thirst so she headed for that stream her and Skylar talked about. The colt followed.
She got herself a drink and started towards Skylar but halted several feet off. The colt caught up to her and bumping his muzzle against her side, she pinned her ears and ignored him. This allowed him to eat again although she was not very thrilled with that fact. His name came to mind. Izayah. Good enough she thought.
