Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Was it the heat the early autumn sun was already giving off this morning? Or maybe it was the fact the tri-colored female skipped eating last night? What had set the beast off this morning mattered little to her now, as she raced out of Taviora's territory into the free lands in hopes of finding prey that wasn't another wolf. 'Kill, kill, kill....' That's all the beast inside whispered in the back of her mind this entire morning, from the moment she woke. Leafshadow hadn't even realized how far she had run until she snapped out of her panic to find prey, only to look around. Now finding herself near a river that came from Taviora's neighbor's, Spirane, and flowed deep into the swamps of Iromar. It surprised her, she hadn't been here since the night she first came to this land. She sniffed the air and ground checking hopefully for scent of something she can hunt. To her delight and disappointment she found the scent of a doe. 'Normally I don't hunt bigger game by myself, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.' Her muscles rippling beneath her flame-like pelt, she begins to track the poor creature she has chosen to be her prey. The sun's heat began warming the red fur upon her back. Finally the doe comes into sight, immediately she drops to her near perfect hunters crouch. There’s always room for improvement. The beast rears within her, more than ready for its sick game and the hunt. Closing her eyes, she deeply inhales, relaxing. Allowing her mental restraints to fall from the beast within; she felt a small, familiar tug in her gut.

Her golden eyes reopen to find world to be in red hues, then the beast stalks forward. The doe was unaware of the danger drawing closer with each breath it took. The beast finally deemed itself close enough. It straightened our posture. Letting out its cruel crackle; it said, in a voice that would only serve to send shivers up ones spine, its familiar phrase: "Time to hunt". The does head shot up at this, its fear-filled eyes landing upon the beast. It seemingly froze at the sight, as the beast stalked closer. The deer suddenly pivoted attempting to run, but the beast darted forward before its prey could build up speed; sinking its sharp fangs into its prey right hind leg. The doe screams, as the beast twisted its head, still biting down on the purchase it gained, until it heard a satisfying 'snap'. The poor creature bucked in attempt to pay the beast back in turn, but the beast released the broken limb. The beast then moved to the slow fleeing animal's left side, ramming the doe with its shoulder. With no right hind leg to catch itself on, it toppled on its side kicking and screaming. Her dark side moved around the back of the struggling body, and as it attempt to stand using its two good front legs, its life was ended with a swift bite closing around its neck cutting off its air.

The adrenaline faded within the beast, as a wave of sickening satisfaction rippled through its body; allowing Leafshadow to share the mind a bit better. Together both sides of her personality feasted on the carcass; ears perked for any who may approach, dangerous or not.
