Re(1): How did you like the James Blish story?

Very interesting story but difficult to get into at first. I hope people will stick with it as it gets better and better. Incredibly imaginative. Great world creation. I had read a few other stories by him that were more straightforward and had no idea he could go so bizarre. My one criticism is unfair. The story reflects the 1950s attitude towards women, that is the heroine is sweet and sympathetic and that's it. Incidentally, I googled and discovered Blish published literally hundreds of stories. Very prolific and successful. Very long career.
Finally, I can't resist. I found the cover illustration for this story. It's unintentionally hilarious for it has absolutely nothing to do with the story! http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/b/james-blish/thing-in-the-attic.htm
