Amoxtli watched the silver male tension both from preparing for the male to strike as well as his nerves building up inside of him as the brute took every step. He was nervous, obviously and understandably though he was a bit ashamed by the fact his lack of confidence was intruding upon this battle. The boy didn’t want to disappoint Shiloh or make Sleekwing think he was a waste of time. His father worked hard to teach him what he knew and he was going to prove that his time wasn’t wasted as well. He had to do it if not for him for them, he knew he wasn’t much of anything but he wasn’t going to let those around him down. It had to be this way. He had to work his hardest even if he wasn’t really confident.

He was both ready and not for the sudden burst of speed that came from the silver brute. He wasn’t used to such a fast moving sprinter, but wasn’t going to let that stop him. Further corroboration of Amoxtli’s training seemed to come into effect rather quickly as Sleekwing neared him. Amoxtli didn’t correct his movement in time but used his time in what he felt was a better use of the few seconds given to prepare bracing his nearly grown form from the contact and waiting instead for Sleekwing to get close to him. Incapacitate, do what you can to slow a fast opponent down. Hinder them in any way possible.

Sleekwings position gave the boy an open spot to quickly lunge for his exposed knee. He was focused upon grabbing his ruff an area to which Amoxli thought was sacrificial in comparison to the joint to which he was wishing to grab himself. He took a grab for the knee just as he felt the pinch of fangs on his thicker ruff turning his body slightly to grab while Sleekwing was reaching upwards. With any luck he would take hold then pull back to yank the brute back and away by the knee from Amoxtli’s ruff. His grip was gentle though firm instead of digging in his canines he would grab and pull with his back teeth in a real battle perhaps he would have tried to dig his canines into the tender knee cap but this was simply a show of skills.

Sleekwing was right in his comfort zone though. Close. His father taught him to stay close and beat down. Darty targets were something unfamiliar to the boy though really it was much like prey, you wanted to ground them and often they were smaller wolves that could do such tactics. Amo had no practice in that though and in his comfort zone the boy had some confidence. Just apply what his father taught him. It was all he could do now.
