Slowly Crow walks along the shoreline, her eyes cast out across the lapping waters and she wonders why everyone that enters those merciless waves never comes back. The black filly can only assume that they are all dead; doomed to stay trapped in the clutches of the sea. It saddens her, bringing more darkness to her heart and a hardness that she decides no one will breech again. They had all promised to return and yet she was alone; trapped to forever be a victim of solitude.


Several times in the darkest times of her depression and desprity to find someone she had entered those damning waters. Each time she had only made it up to her knees before her fear became too much and she fled back to the awaiting sands. Several times she had collapsed in a fit of tears, sobbing her self pity out onto the earth as it was the only embrace she had left.


Another season had passed despite the lack of change in weather but Crow felt no different. The filly had tucked it away though, blocking the feelings from her face until there was nothing left but the dark cold mask. Crow had decided that she would no longer be a victim but a survivor and with that had stopped her crying and began living again.


Now as the sun rose above the horizan the filly grazed along the vegetation at the edge where the shore turned to jungle. During the day she would retreat to the cooler sheltering palms to doze as the sun was too hot upon her ebony back. At night she lingered along the shoreline, dark eyes cast out across the moonlit waves but never was a tear shed again. Raising her head she cast one more glance towards the waters before turning her back to them, her delicate legs carrying her into the shadows of the awaiting jungle.
