The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The world will end in fire

She is not without a sharp ear. In fact, she survives on the fact that her ears catch sounds and her eyes flicker at the slightest of movements, red hot coals burning with an intensity for life itself. She was keen on this day despite not being driven by hunger. Her white ears give way to a flicker, and her form of fire and snow gives way to turn slightly. She is a female with look naturally wondrous and yet terrifying. She looks as if she was touched by fire itself, a storm of flame passing her by. She was elegant in build, yet her face was harsh looking with the dark black eyeliner that only made her eyes pop in the dimmest of lights.

She was often alone or with the dark male in times she was not hungry. It was rare that she interacted with others. The ones that came from her had gone, for one reason or another that she could never understand. Which is why she was here today, to find the male that came from her, to find him and see him. He still came from her, even if he had grown full in size, and she desired to see him once more.

So she was curious, almost hopeful that it was him when she hears the footsteps, hears the breathing of another near. It didn't sound as heavy as the blackened shadow, not as strong with the air it breaths. Her amber red eyes flash over, the fluff on her ruff obvious and dirty as she looks now upon the one who approach her. It was none that she knew, not directly. She saw the girl, her smaller size, and her dark fur. Flare only gives way to letting her fur stand on edge. She was a rather furry girl, fluffy to a point, and she could look larger than she really is. She made sure her chest was puffed, her form still laying as she turn more to fave Raven. Her musculature is lithe and yet obviously toned. Her nose only leans forward to sniff, inhaling the scent of the girl as she dare step even closer. It was scent only vaguely familiar. She had not met this girl before directly, but had smelled it upon the shadow long ago. Never is a scent forgotten, but it held little significance other than that.

She observed her carefully, her muscles tensing, ready to bolt at any moment if need be. There was a distinct feeling within her at times, to run when food is not needed, to ensure she is not injured to live another day, and there is a fierce wariness in her eyes as she looks at the younger girl with suspicion. She raises to her legs slowly once Raven drops the badger, her eyes falling with the dead creature. Her stance dominant and wild as she looks upon the gift.

It is then she realizes the sign, although if she interprets it correctly or not is something unknown. She remembers how she came to be at shadow's side, how she offered him food in exchange for future food, future security as long as she heeded to his dominance and was not weak as well. It was the way of the wolf, the way of deep dark natures, and it was the way of now with the gift before her.

She was not starving, not particularly hungry and yet it didn't mean she couldn't eat to ward off hunger for a few hours more. Her muscles are tense as her back stands arched, red hackles flared as she takes two or three cautious steps forward. Her jaws reach out to snap at the badger, insuring it is dead before she looks up at Raven, standing a head taller as the younger girl submits. She is stiff, stiff and yet she does not lunge or dash towards her. She simply looks at her, staring, before something gives way behind her- slight wags of her flame and ash touched tail. With it, came a slight whine, one single one as her mouth opens lick her chops. There is something within youth that suits her, brings her a comfort that she did not understand, and perhaps it is from that same drive to find what once came from her womb.

She lowers her muzzle to the badger, ripping away at flesh to take a few good chunks of meat and swallow them. She does not let her eyes venture from the other girl, does not drop her guard, and yet she wondered if the girl too feels the hunger within, how such a torturous thing it is, and after only a few bites she dares to nudge the badger forward, to see if the younger girl wished for a bite herself- for there is a part of Flare that did not wish for anyone to feel the hunger as she did...yet only a belly more full was so kind.
