Hardly any time had been able to be devoted to Vladya. She was either steered away by fear that he would hate her, or by Serris acting as a physical wall himself. Even the thought of her success in this attempt to reach out to him was surprising to the desert rose. Her tri-colored pelt rustled in the frigid wind. Winter was on her way. And this late autumn storm would surely be the turning point of the seasons. Silence spread between the two right for a while before she attempted to slice through it with her words. She must have surprised him. “Wait, huh?” His voice was a trumpet of an arch angel amongst a bloody and hell-filled battle-field. “You’re… ready to leave?” Why was it always her who was making these calls in the first place? Her brows lowered and she broke eye contact, trying to distract herself in the same manner he had just moments ago. What had he been staring at? The trees? A quick second of squinting and she determined that there was nothing there. Had he been… Oh god. She couldn’t do this today. “Um… well I don’t—“ she flinched at the sound of the overhead clouds clashing against one another as giants do. She was the one dragging him around. She was the one who brought him to a place that she thought would be safe. But in reality, it was perhaps more dangerous than Abendrot, especially on the emotional level. “It’s not really… for either of us I don’t think.” The look on his face a few days beforehand had said it all, actually. Vladya wasn’t enjoying this. And she wasn’t either. It wouldn’t strike her as a surprise if Kershov came marching up to Munashii and pulled out a bazooka, demanding Vladya. Serris was more than likely to kick the girl’s ice dragon right to the curb. She avoided his attempt to tuck her head under his chin. She couldn’t right now. She needed to convince him that what she thought was right. That her words were valuable and that he should take them to heart and get up just one more time and find a different area to go to. Not like going to a different area would help at all. But really… it had almost been half a year now from when Kershov had almost sucked the life out of the two of them. Maybe he had stopped. They had never been intercepted by any sort of team that was specifically Abendrot looking for them, or Abendrot, or looking for them for that matter.
In any case the girl was a wreck. Emotional. Going through yet another one of her newly appointed estrus cycles, and totally worn out from Serris constantly talking her ear off about how he disliked this new toy of hers. Tired of trying to get the big black brute to see her side without revealing to him the details of the manner of her coming to hold one of Kershov’s gold coins, or the way he reacted to her words while they recuperated in Spring Grounds. Tired of seeing that bitch alongside him with those gleaming eyes and possessive attitude. Sick of smelling their sweet coupling all over the goddamn place. Kobato couldn’t deal with it. And as the next thunder clash rang in the heavens, the girl closed her eyes and pressed up against Vladya, allowing an embrace this time if he wished to give it.
“It’s not home anymore. It never was to begin with. It was a playground. But I don’t wish to be a princess as I once did. My little game of make-believe ended a while ago.” When I realized I loved you. But as if she was going to say that aloud. Yet another dent in her happiness. She was still unable to convey her feelings across to the older male. Was it their age difference? Or was it that he didn’t feel the same way? That had never really been brought up, had it? She had managed to blurt out her feelings but she had never received a reply. Was he just staying by her side out of a need to satisfy a debt? “He knows, too. He knows where we are. I gave him Munashii Gekko as my home and put both of us and my family in danger. I endangered the lives of those I love because of a slip of words.” Her body tremored with worry and fear from the incoming storm. The first few pellets of icy rain sought out their cloaks and Kobato shivered uncomfortably against their unwanted appearance. “I’m very selfish, Vladya. I don’t know why you continue to put up with me.” Her voice was quiet. A dangerous thing regarding the fact that it was Kobato who was saying these words. Teeth bit hard into her lip as she held back the childish lump in her throat. She didn’t want it to evolve into a tear fest. Here she paused, taking this as a chance to get a hold of herself. To try and soothe her breathing.
Let’s go.
And that was all she said. Nothing else would be pulled from her mouth. Dangerously quiet. Dangerously calm.
