I have been a part of the club now for two years and can only comment on what I have seen so far. Here is the one thing that sticks out as a source of frustration:
THE MEETING:
We rarely have a great attendance with only about half of the club showing. Eiher family commitments or not knowing about it seems to be the standard answer as to why some do not attend. It is very important that we have as many members as we can so that we can have a majority present when voting on topics. Also it seems that we don't really think about what needs to be discussed prior to the meeting.
Things to discuss:
Changes - This always seems to draw many blank looks from the members only to be followed up by the grumblings later of why we do things certain ways. Please take some time and discuss any changes prior to the meeting so we can have a clear mindset and vote.
Nominations of the Officers - Passing the torch is never an easy task. When it comes time for this we should all be ready to give a nomination of a member that would serve the club in a positive way. Not just a person that says "oh ok if nobody else wants to do it". It is good that we are discussing future nominations at this time via this message board. Keep that going so we can have light discussions at the meeting and vote without having it be a long endeavor.
Sites - We have a diverse group who like to fish in many different places. We have enough sites and interest in each to consider the ones some of us do not like. Please consider those sites as well. Not just the ones you like. Printing a list of sites to have at the meeting is a big help.
Guest Rule:
The year prior to my membership I understand there were no guests allowed. The last two years we had a guest rule. We may want to get this one knocked out prior to the meeting by either email or here on the boards to ensure we have a maximum number of members participating.
These are just a few of my observations and I am sure there are others that you guys will bring to the front as well. Please do not hesitate as it is for the good of everyone to participate and feel as if they are a part of the club.
