The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

don't pray for me
Stability was one thing that the pallid girl's life could never possess. She was constantly being thrown around as if she were the universe's little bitch and yet she had somehow managed to keep her head just above water for this long already.

Maybe there was something more powerful that fate's grip that protected her all these years.

Either way, the six-year-old only wanted one thing out of her existence thus far and that was.. control, ease of mind, happiness. It seemed that all three had slipped through her grasp so many times before and she was sent hurdling downward into the chaotic darkness again, forced to try and claw her way back out eventually. She had beaten all odds of survival by somehow being spared from the jaws of her cannibalistic mother as an infant, defeated the waves of the rapids that tried to drag her under, and picked herself back up after the loss of her childhood companion.

She is a hardy little beastie and carries onward in the face of all evils. Yet there is still the yearning in the deepest parts of her soul to find an inner sanctum and she will not stop until she has found it.

But where would one go in search of something so intangible? It cannot be obtained through physical feats and as she treks toward the astounding heights of the crags she notices a crevice just below; an entrance into a grotto. It intrigues her and of course she must satiate her curiosity and enter the caverns to further her exploration. It is only after a delve into deeper parts of the labyrinth that she discovers the presence of someone strange to her; his figure is muddled with the dark gray and blacks of the backdrop and only the slightest glint in his eyes portrays life within the being.

He is massive and intimidating and for a moment she thinks better of bothering the fellow for her own sake.. but it is fleeting. "Good-day.." It is spoken evenly and yet in a soft, feminine tone, friendly enough to encourage a similar response though her posture foretells of her likelihood of darting if he were to be some sort of crazy.
