At her 'snake-hunting' comment, initially Orhan's dark eyes narrowed slightly while he tried to decide whether she was being patronizing or not. But as far as he could see, her smile was genuine; it lit up her eyes and made her whole face seem youthful. She was simply being friendly and playful. Her easy manner relaxed him a bit, though Orhan did not return her smile. 'Snake-hunting' was serious business, and he knew he would carry the deep ache of frustration that the creature had outwitted him yet again for the rest of the day.

"It's snake-hunting season all year around here," he replied casually, flicking his tail in unconscious irritation as his eyes darted down towards the rock once, twice, three times. There was, of course, no sign of movement underneath it.

When the strange little mare introduced herself, one of the stallion's black-tipped ears flicked in her direction. Still concerned about the possible reappearance of the snake, his eyes did not follow suit right away, but when they did, there was the glimmer of curiosity bubbling up beneath the sheen of frustration within them. As politely as he could muster, the buckskin inclined his head in a nod of acknowledgement.

"Well, here it is. Come, let's get away from that... thing. I'll show you to the oasis; it's just over the hill." Turning on his heels and stepping a few paces away, Orhan watched and waited for the mare to fall in beside him.
