The Grotto
Disaster has struck!

For a moment he almost thinks he has mistaken some oddly wolf-shaped rock for the being above so quiet is the night that responds to his words, hanging heavy in the cavern’s air for seconds that seemed to stretch into minutes. The night played tricks with time, moon and starlight and silence somehow bending the laws of time and space. Finally however two gruff words break the stillness and float down to him. He watches quietly as the body belonging to that voice moves and slowly descends from the lofty heights of the cavern. He considers that perhaps he could have climbed the steep, natural stairs and joined his mysterious companion, no doubt the view of the stars would have been better from there, but it made no mattered now.
Finally the slender wolf is before him, mostly dark save for rare splashes of white and brown he takes a moment to size him up. He was long and agile, no doubt muscular under his thicker coat that lay plush against his sides. He thinking momentarily of his own coat, no doubt sticking out at odd angles and never to be tamed. He would never be a smooth looking wolf he thought almost bitterly, his talents would lay elsewhere. Managing a genial smile he nodded politely as he introduced himself. “I’m Ryker,” His words clipped and while not short there is not a one wasted, his light tail wags slightly in good nature, his head cocked almost permanently to one side due to the uselessness of his left ear. It was a natural tick these days formed in his early years and his ever present dislike of that ear, he had thought of tearing it off more than once.
Watching as Jericho moved off to sit more comfortable he adjusted himself, positioning himself so his right ear was closer and pulling his thick frame to be seated as well. As his companion speaks again he lets his azure gaze follow the walls of the cavern back to the open top and seemingly endless array of stars. “I always come to watch the stars in one place or another, they’re the only constant thing no matter where you are. I was taught the constellations as a pup.” He said, in the end speaking more to himself than Jericho as the thought of traveling with his mother threatens to take him. He pushes it away, no time to get caught up in a past that couldn’t be changed. “What brings you out by yourself on such a cold night?” Winter had set in quickly across Moladion and there were few who willingly chose to be out in the cold on a night like this.
