Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

how long will we blame the devils on our shoulders

I had not been able to resist. For whatever reason, I had been awoken with the urge to see her. What could have stopped me? When I had decided to have her closer, there was nothing that might have changed my mind. There were no tangible obstacles. When I had decided on it, I had taken off immediately. That is where I am now - finding her in the dark, my nose to the earth and eyes ever hungry. Diveen is not the place for her. I know this is to be true for I know her. She cannot enjoy the things she likes there but here... or, with me at least, she can. There are no others that hold such a curiosity, after all, not like her. I had tried to take the bones of the Iromar Queen but there had been no others to help me. Slowly, I wanted to absorb those around me. If I took the power that Heyel had, I would need others to carry its weight with me. Even I know that. Solaris had started it, but now I choose to begin my own journey alongside his own - I have chosen her to start with. Then, surely, Boleyn... Luk... Dexter. I will take them all, I think.

When I found her, I did not speak. Her eyes are open already, illuminated by the moon. Had she been waiting? I did not speak but I stood aside, peering into her home and beckoning her forward with a lazy, slow wave of my tail. I cannot help but wonder if Diveen will send an army for her, though I cannot find it within me to care. This is how the world works, after all. I have taken her away, perhaps, as we disperse from her home and towards Taviora, but it was consensual. She did not scream. She did not bite. She followed as quietly as ever, and it gladdens me. It is nice to bask in such a silence. Nice, perhaps, and yet I know the feeling of winter all too well. I am quiet if only to keep my thoughts focused.

She speaks then as we push through the forest and I remain silent for some moments, glancing up at the darkening canopy. Here, the light is snuffed out, leaving only the faintest sliver of silver to trace around her form. It leaves only the sound of breathing, of our blood and hearts. It is then that I choose to speak, turning and moving towards her so that I might face into the paleness of her face, inspecting her, my head tilting slowly from left to right.

"Does when matter?"

I ask her simply, eyeing her curiously before taking once more to the darkness around us. It would be a shame, truly, if another was interrupt us here. I am not one for sharing, no, and many of the wolves of Taviora are not worthy of sharing with. If they come now, they will ask questions and they will pry. Still, it seems as if the forest around us lays dormant. It is but only the wind drawling through the leaves with slow, exasperated gusts.

"I needed time. I could not fail."

There is her answer, the words merely a shrug. I could have come sooner, perhaps, but fall was a tense month for many. Females and males alike flocked to one another in displays of affection, often place taking to the borders and free lands for privacy. They would have seen us, surely, and they would have not understood. Now was the right for he she should across from me. I cannot help but move another step forward, drawing closer to the warmth she radiates in the darkness.

"Are you unhappy that I did?"

I pause but inches from her, the warmth radiating from myself mingling with her own in the space between us. I look down on her inquisitively, my brows furrowed ever so slightly. Had I been wrong? Perhaps I truly was a thief, after all.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
