In August of 2012, the Union Leader published a photo allegedly taken by a Southwestern NH wildlife enthusist/hunter. The photo, was reported to be taken in Alstead and the man did not want to be identified, citing: “I've had problems with Fish and Game and do not want to be involved with them in any way,and besides, I just plain don't want the hassle.” All of which he said, I have heard to be true.
A friend of mine in the neighboring town of Westmoreland also reported an evening Mountain Lion sighting in the fall of 2012.
In 2010, I worked as a rural paper delivery carrier while in college. While driving up the hill at the end of Pierce Road in Dublin NH, I saw a large animal cross the road going up the embankment. It had lighter coloring than a red fox, but a goldish brown all around. It was too big to be a fox or bobcat and did not have the build of Coyote. While I did not get a close look and don't confirm it in my mind as a siting, I have always thought what I saw had to of been a Mountain lion. It length, sleekness and color matched up too well.
