Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

lost all feeling

the fire in my heart
will burn me to the ground

He watched her as she came, perhaps with a little more interest and intensity than was normal. But his life had never been normal, and loneliness was the unkindest of companions. She wades through the water like she knows it well, wades right by him, and just like that he turns away. Another reminder of how insignificant he is, in the grand scheme of things. He is nothing, and no-one. But maybe, to her, he is something. She speaks, and while she is some distance away, he knows she speaks to him. Because her words address his absence from some place.

In another life, he would have been disgusted by the surge of sudden gladness that he felt, for such a small observation, remarked upon so casually. But, he only has this life, and there are no souls in it that would notice his absence. He moves toward her as if drawn by her voice, and already, many words sit on his tongue, all vying for freedom. But Sandman is beaten by the voice of another, a stallion of this land that approaches, and offers an answer to the mare. "No," Sandman said, the word soft - an answer for them both. No, he had not grown tired of the Peak, nor its inhabitants. He tilted his head at this strange mare, trying to place her. He couldn't remember if she had come to the aid of the large mare who'd interrupted his hunt.

"Never," the word dripped from his tongue like water, though he'd intended it to be ice. He glances to the grey male, and studies him for a moment. There was a hint of familiarity about, but before Sandman could grasp it, it dispersed like his breath on the wind. He acknowledged the stallion with a dip of his head, but he did not answer him yet. "Came all this way to rub it in? Or maybe you wanted to have a go at me too?" He watched her again, and for a brief moment, something in him shined, but it was quick to fade to nothing. "No," he said tiredly. "You seem to fit right in here, feel at ease, even. And I..." He hesitated, like the words were caught in his throat. "I envy you that." Against his will, his head lowered, and his ears turned back. "It isn't fair," Sandman murmured, and then snorted, trying to pull himself back together. "Here I was, thinking that maybe you had missed me." He tried to match her smile, but his attempt to hide his hurts, again, didn't stick so well as he'd hoped.

Sandman was breathing embers, for the flame he wished for had nothing within to draw from.

"No," he said again, angling his muzzle towards the male who stood nearby. "And yes." His head dropped just a little, and he had not the strength to raise it up again. Words failed him too, sometimes, and he ended up causing confusion for others, and confusion for himself. "I just... It's been a long time," he tried to explain, frustration edging his words. "I wanted to, but I..." He drew in a sharp breath, and stood silent while anger and diffidence warred within him. "Home," he managed after a moment. "I just needed to come home." His eyes were tired and sad, unable to linger long on the stallion's face.
