Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

As he noticed her, Noxa tensed into a complete statue, her muscles unmoving as he started toward her, a Lucor in her vision...what would she do? She wracked her brain for other words of wisdom, hoping to find something that she had heard previously to help her current situation, was he going to kill her? She didn't know, but she flinched as he spoke, his voice of poisoned cream felt deceivingly smooth to her. He crossed around her and she was sure he was going to attack, she had no means to fight back, she was hungry and weak, her old diet had not kept her completely healthy -as was to be expected- and she was small and skinny. She held her breath, bracing herself, the thought crossing again through her mind you will surely be kill't...

But no such attack came, instead she opened her clenched eyes and found him sitting merely inched away from her, her breathing increased and she dared to back up a step, trying to collect herself. Forest-eyes stared into those firey golden ones, afraid but with a little bit of defiance, exactly the defiance that had led her to come here in the first place. Her ears were pulled forward in a more attentive position, she grasped the little bit of courage she had within her to answer him-

And so it was written that the children besmutted by the earth would face their sins, and so it comes to pass that the lords drove me to meet a Lucor.

She said, her breath slightly baited, her eyebrows knitted together as her graveled voice moved passed her lips and to his ears. There was a steady calmness about this response, although her body was still tense in the anguish of anxiety, her shoulders protruding even more vividly now, her brindled coat vibrating slightly as she shook with fear. Fates? Did he mean the lords? Had the winged ones put her to a test? Or no, perhaps this was a vision of what was to come, it had been predicted as it were, and now it was coming to pass in reality. Another memory swam to the forefront of her mind-

"Tricks and deceptions are out there my children, if you ever found yourself without your family you might be subject to that which is fallen, the outside world is nothing to fantasize about, children, it is a dangerous place full of the trickery of those whom caw and steal what is rightfully that of the pure. We are not yet pure, but it is our duty to stand up for the true beauty of they which fly!"

She shook her head after this, no, hadn't she decided that her previous life had been nonsense? She had, but brainwashing of any depth took time to cure...she took a moment and a breath to ready herself for another sentence, one a bit obtuse to even her healing mind-

I'm Noxa, are you a descendant of they who have fallen? Are you a true being or a mirage?

The question would probably seem unorthodox to this black and white male, but to Noxa it was all she had ever known, she hoped to find some clarity within her fear, she said a quick prayer to the Lords she had abandoned with her family and faith -out of habit- and hoped that his response wouldn't be so callous as her memories.
