Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Of course she had followed; she who had awoken this hunger in him would surely not turn away from such a prime opportunity. The white wolfess is near silent in her approach, while Reaver cares not for concealing his motion. He advances upon the ignorant shewolf that so tauntingly flailed her hindquarters in the air. And in those moments just before he grasps her tail and flings her aside, she looks back at him and terror floods her eyes. It only fuels the fire that flares in his stomach, and then he is upon her. The scream she emits as he thrusts her to the ground sends a tingling sensation down his spine, and the fur stands on end all along the ridge of his back. His hackles bristle in excitement and aggression. He pursues her slowly, thoroughly enjoying the terror he had inflicted in her. As she scrambled to her feet it was then that Jaidah made her attack, and almost in slow motion her fangs sink into the shoulder of the girl, tearing away the flesh and letting blood burst forth from the wound. An almost erotic growl bubbles forth from his maw as her screams fill his ears, and then the girl is on the run.

The crimson and obsidian marked ruffian is not far behind, and though his immense form cannot move as quickly as her small, darting body, she is injured and even her rushing adrenaline could not keep her from him. He licks his lips and bounds after her, long legs eats up the ground in a bounding stride. He knows that Jaidah will be there with him, flanking her as they rushed to catch her. She might have speed, but he had stamina and he would not give up until he had felt the last pulse of her heart pour her blood out into the snow. Slowly he closes the gap, though as he gains ground on her he hears the approach of another, far larger than either female present, and a single ear flicked to the side to judge how long he had before impact. Just long enough. Watching his prey’s every motion, he timed his strike so that his jaws snapped forward just as her left hind leg left the ground. He aimed to grab hold of the paw and snap his teeth shut before pulling back and putting on the breaks, hoping to quite literally pull her feet out from under her.

No matter his success or failure he immediately releases her once the damage is done, leaving her pathetic life for Jaidah to end. At the last possible second he pivots to meet the oncoming male wolf with his shoulder. He thrusts his entire weight into his attacker, the defender of this weak morsel that he still fully intended to make his meal today. Jaws come snapping at his neck and face, and they find purchase in the thick winter fur that makes almost a mane around his neck. The flare of contact ignites, teeth burying into his fur until they pierced his flesh. He answers the attack brutishly, twisting his head around and lashing out to grab at an ear or the ruff of the slighter wolf, engaging him in the art of battle – that which Reaver had never been overcome.
