PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

fear that breaks the brave

Blackguard had timed her journey well - the sun was low in the sky by the time she stood on the gentle slopes at the base of the mountain. She gave herself a moment to breathe, and to stand in awe of the mighty Peak, and then she let out a call to alert the mountain's inhabitants of her presence. Though she did not think she'd be unwelcome, it was out of respect and logic that she announced her presence. Blackguard knew that if she lived here, and found a stranger loitering upon the border, she wouldn't be impressed. Perhaps the Peak mares were more forgiving than Blackguard could be. If nothing else, they were to be commended. Mountains could be unforgiving, and Blackguard figured that the women who called the slopes home must be strong and brave, if they had stayed, and prevailed.

Common sense also drove her to draw one of them out. She was tired, it was getting dark, and she wouldn't risk trying to navigate her way up the slopes and ridges of the rocky peak herself. During her life, she had resided upon hilltops, and in the shadows of valleys, but she had never walked upon terrain such as this. It was in her best interest to wait for one who would be willing to guide her to a place she could rest higher up. If need be, she would rest among the foothills, but she would rather not linger too long in the open, alone. There was safety in numbers, and she was eager to be among others for this reason, and another.

The white-faced mare had left Bloodmane, and already she missed the presence of another beside her. His scent still lingered on her skin, and she recalled the warmth of his breath on her neck, his shoulder against hers. Blackguard could still hear the rumble of his voice, remembered the hollows in his face that had been carved by extreme hunger. And she remembered the message he'd asked her to deliver. It would be the first thing she did, after she was safely up the mountain, and felt that, if Bloodmane had been able to read her intentions, he would have approved. He had, after all, been the one who had told her of this place, and sent her this way, believing that it would be a haven of safety for her. Her head raised to the level of her chest, she shifted her weight, and sent a few loose stones skittering. One black ear twisted at the sound of them, and she turned her head, alert to any signs of approach.
